I had a plan to take my wages
Leave the rigs behind for good
But that life it is contagious
And it gets down in your blood

Thanks for posting those. The Administration Building (or whatever they call it now) is timeless. Strangely looks better from farther away on game day with all the American flags lining the approaching boulevard.

The Academic Building was my favorite, but I'm disappointed to see the new windows. I get energy-efficiency and all that but those really take away from the looks. Backing up a bit and getting Lawrence Sullivan Ross statue would add something, but that's a good picture. Still a beautiful building, and the site of Silver Taps in my day. (I assume it still is. Every month in which an Aggie student had died, all students would gather there, having walked silently from their dorms, to observe a 21-gun salute. Hard to put into words what this experience was like.)

The old Civil Engineering building was nice but I'm pretty sure it has been replaced. AFAIK most everything else unfortunately fits the Soviet description. I love A&M, but it's mostly butt-ugly.

That's a good one, but it didn't do the trick. "Little sister brought her new boyfriend. He was a Mexican." is still stuck in my head. Damn Aggies.

Working nights sucks arse, I'm bored out of my mind! Y'all got me listening to Robert Earl Keen and I'd never listened to him before tonight.

Hell no I won't either!!
I'm just filling in for a guy this week. We added a new rig this week and they took our night hand that would normally work this week to work on the new rig.
What sort of work do you do?

U.S. Air Force. I work in supply/logistics. Ties me to a computer for half the night and to a warehouse for the other half, but at least I get multiple screens in the office so I can work on one and Rant on the other

I hope we get to keep stackin paper, its getting pretty bad with price of oil where its at. We are dropping back to 10 rigs from 22. We all took about a 20% pay cut but that beats unemployment

Lmao Great Restaurants? This is why I fricking hate yall

Great Restaurants.....

They have 2 restaurants in the town of Bryan/College Station that would probably survive in Louisiana's culinary climate. Christopher's and Republic.....

Other than that.....you have Cafe Excell........and that's pretty much it.....you are inundated by a culture that will spend money on chains like Cheddar's, Pappadeaux's, and Wing's N More.

Lakes? College Station folk bragging about fricking lakes.......Camp Creek? Lake Conroe?

Your ignorance toward the majesty of Georgia lakes, or Louisiana fishing, or Florida beaches is obvious.

Nobody moves to College Station for the lake or fishing scene.

And nobody moves here to freaking Dove hunt. You go to south Texas for hunting.

My biggest beef in living in this town is the lack of premier fishing. You have to drive 3 hours to salt water fish.

A&M definitely had some awesome looking buildings, and some very horrendous ones

I like how LSU has so many oak trees all over campus, I like nature so I'm always very biased when visiting another school in that aspect.

From a person who has lived in multiple states in his life unlike the OP lets talk about what College Station does have to offer........

1) Family oriented lifestyle
2) NO TRAFFIC
3) Great affordable housing
4) Good paying jobs
5) Great location if you want to travel to the big 3: Dallas, Houston, Austin
6 Great Schools for education including A&M

1-6 Completely encapsulate the reason why people live here.

At no point is or will College Station ever be a culinary mecca, a place for the avid sportsman, or a place to brag about wine.
