Has there been a more dramatic fall after a coaching change than what we've seen from Bama

Sure, they only have two losses but for Bama to have two losses before the Auburn game in late November is almost unheard of. For them to have a realistic shot at at least one more loss is unprecedented over the past nearly two decades.

Maybe it's too early for me and I just can't think but has there been a more significant drop off in program quality in year one of a new coach anywhere else? I can't recall a team going from feared to welcomed on a schedule after a coaching change quite as fast as Bama has.

Tennessee? Granted they were in decline under Fulmer, but they were expected to make a big leap in year 2 under Kiffin... then Dooley showed up for that season.

Nebraska post Solich.

How are the defending national champs doing under their new coach this year?

Saban retired for a reason. He doesn't do anything without a reason. Maybe he knew his team was poison because of NIL and he just wanted out before they tarnished his legacy

Of course Michigan sucks now but they haven't dominated and been elite consistently year in and year out for so long before their title like Bama was.

Who won the National Championship last year and where are they ranked? Dumb post is dumb.

It figures Auburn and Alabama came off our schedule this year. If only we could have traded Toledo and Arizona State for them.

1996 Bama under Gene Stallings - 10-3 (#11)
1997 Bama under Mike DuBose - 4-7 (Unranked)

I would say that was probably more dramatic.

Waiting to see if we need a 4th and 31 miracle TD to beat Auburn this year before replying.

2001 Spurrier finished number 3
2002 Zook with a legit returning Qb went 8-5

I had a gaggle of Gumps come after me for saying this exact thing before the season started.

Wheels started coming off those Saban teams in 2021. Saban is GOAT and was able to still put together good to great teams but anyone with an objective point of view could tell you those Bama teams starting in 2021 looked nothing like the Bama from 2009-2020.

Hmm, per the AP Poll:

• Ranked: #15
• Beat: #2
• Lost: #7, #25

Last season during said "other" coaches tenure, this same QB got pulled against USF, and the team almost lost a handful of other games, including that second-half comeback against Tennessee (who said coach also lost to in 2022) and the 4th-and-31 against 6–7 Auburn, but somehow this is already the most significant drop-off in history?
