inb4 t-sips claiming Big 12 and Longhorn Network 3rd tier rights dwarf this.

All bs aside, SEC was the strongest conference before expansion, and is even stronger now. Slive was no dummy.
What is the feeling in Texas about who came out on top in the UT - A&M rivalry post-expansion? I’m assuming A&M is way better off now?

Well, it doesn't dwarf it, but it exceeds it.
Does that bother you?

Hate to break it some of you but the SEC is behind the B1G....
Financially that wasn't always the case until recently

Says a fan of a school still paying off a loan to keep its athletics department solvent.
The TEXAS budget is at least 25 percent larger than aggy, we are in the black and we have far less debt than aggy (with higher sources of revenue).
There are at least 100 schools that wish they were as "broke" as TEXAS.

Read the actual article...
Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska helped the B1G more than aggy and Mizzou helped the SEC..
aggy and Mizzou aren't helping the first tier negotiations.
CBS laughed at the SEC demands
SEC needs first tier revenue to pass the B1G.
That $43.1 million figure tops the old league standard of $40.9 each SEC school received for the 2016-17 fiscal year. For comparison’s sake, that number tops the $36.5 million (not including third-tier rights) the Big 12 announced for each of its members in June of this year, but falls well short of the $51 million the majority of Big Ten schools will reportedly receive for the same fiscal year

This is the first year the big ten payout has surpassed the sec simply because they just got a new contract. The sec’s was struck several years back. It will change when the sec reups

The SEC Office keeps TWO shares back for the SEC coffers. That's $86.2 million alone from that year. WTH does the SEC Office NEED that kind of money? What kind of investment portfolio does the SEC have? ONE share ought to be enough to pay all those alabama grads that work there! :-)

Y'all all need to bow down to Bama for this...bunch of
fricking slouchers.

There are other things involved as well.
Including their contract with FOX gives them more of the revenue than the SEC network.

That's correct. The SEC Network brings in less per school than UT Austin gets from the Longhorn Network. And all the programming centers on the Longhorns and The University, while aggy gets literal crumbs in relation to programming.
This payout also includes NCAA basketball tournament and bowl revenue. Not exactly something Billy Kennedy, meat judging, women's equestrian and aggy appearances in the Belk and Taxslayer bowls contribute significantly toward.

Then why have they not had more until the first year of their new contract? This is the first year they have had more in a payout, what changed from previously?

But the SEC needs to expand...
Point is A&M and Missouri aren't as important as aggy wants them to be..
The next realignment will be much different.
Especially because the SEC's first tier rights are coming to an end and CBS is laughing at their demands.

Their contract starts this year I believe. That was the final year according to the report.

what bowls did you go to in 2015 and 2016?

Big 12 has some issues. FOX and the B1G are going to squeeze them from their end.
But ultimately the SEC cannot have Texas and OU in the B1G.
That would be a catastrophic because that would mean the ACC is still around as well.
