Not yet….Spurrier won the SECC like 6-7 times. And unlike some of you knuckleheads that think the NC is all that matters, The SEC means a lot to me. He was also battling full legit FSU and Miami as well as the the SEC. Plenty of great SEC teams didn’t even get a chance at the NC. You can control winning the SECC. Kirby Needs a longer tenure.

Spurrier couldn’t beat Butch Jones. At least Kirby did that once.

Have you seen the threads started the last week?

threads on this board have covered:
UGA 2022 being the GOAT
Stetson Bennett being an NFL starter
Stetson being in the college football HOF
Kirby going to have a better career than Saban, winning 10 national titles
Kirby already passing one of the best coaches in SEC history (Spurrier)
UGA having the best run in CFB history

Remember 1980?

We do. Y'all have had this coming.

To be fair that Nebraska era wishbone was stout.

Actually ran the Veer from an I-formation and single back formation back then. Never really lined up in a 3 back wishbone set.

Spurrier was the OG Goat.
Hated playing UF when he was there.

Spurrier is an offensive minded guy.
Kirby came from the defense side.

Spurrier came during the 3 yrds and a cloud of dust days of the late 80's and opened up offenses and exposed defenses. I remember he trashed AU his first year in 1990 48-7.
Seems he would choke a game away during the season. Terry Bowden HC at AU beat UF his first two seasons. Then there was the choke at Doak in 1994 against FSU ending in a tie. Spurrier and Bobby had their rivalry.

Everyone in the media laughed at the hire

No they didn't and the vast majority was incredibly positive about the hire.
More than one called Spurrier the "perfect fit" for UF.

The media said this is a great hire Alabama’s system and process would work great at uga.

"System and process?" Like what?

At the time Kirby was hired the program
was behind most of if not all the big 6 when it came to support staff, facilities and coaches salaries. It needed to upgrade/modernize all the above for Kirby to take the job.Wasnt copying Bama as opposed to competing in CFB's modern era...which we hadn't done
in the 30+ years prior to his hire.

Why didn't he "copy" his offense?

BTW,how many of his assts have been hired to as HC's? And if it was easy as copying his system and process, why weren't they successful as Kirby? I'll be happy to give you a list.

Kirby and Saban cheat like motherfrickers. Both had the benefit of NIL before there was an NIL. Spurrier did it maybe not saintly, but certainly cleaner.

Spurrier went three full seasons (middle 94-middle 97) without losing to an SEC team including the SEC title game.

I don't think he's passed him yet but he will in a few years if they keep winning SEC titles.

Bear Bryant, once stated in regards to the University of Florida football program that "there's a sleeping giant down there."

I heard he told people if UF could ever get a coach to get them to focus on football and not the beach and girls they could win some championships.

Is Spurrier equal to Dooley then?
