This century? Florida is among the elite of the elite since 2000 in basketball. Only UConn has more national titles.

I don't think they're viewed the same way Kentucky is viewed due to the long history of winning. However, based on recent history, Florida is as good as anyone. I'm still shocked they didn't win it last year.

if Florida's 6 SEC men's basketball titles since 2000 is considered "passing" Kentucky's 9 SEC men's basketball titles since 2000 - then we should all quit playing SEC basketball -

Kentucky has 1 national title, 9 conference tournament championships, and 9-10 conference regular season titles (depending if you start at 2000 or 2001).
Florida has 3 national titles, 5 conference tournament championships, and 6-7 conference regular seasons titles (depending if you start at 2000 or 2001).
Yes, they (and 2 other teams) all finished tied for 1st in the regular season in 2000.
Despite Kentucky having more seasons winning the SEC, it's hard to ignore the fact that Florida has not 1, but 2 more national titles. If Florida had just one then you could make an argument between sustained success vs two trips to the peak of college basketball, but 2 more national titles than just 1 AND the fact that the separation between them in conference titles is not that vast, and I agree that Florida has surpassed Kentucky for prominence since the turn of the century.

This has been Kentuckys worst stretch ever, but even then since 2000 the only stat Florida leads in is championships, and if you go back to just 96 making it 30 years, they lead in none and are way behind in all other stats. So no.
