well, since he quoted it from wikipedia it MUST be true, right?
If it was such a institution, you would think that one of the astronauts that AU has put out would correct it if it was in error...

You're confusing your magic number with Bama's power 13

Oh, I'm sure it is. I don't give a shite about the trees or Harvey or any of the deal. Just a way to pass the offseason.

rolling" of trees at Toomer's with toilet tissue. The exact date of the initial "rolling" of Toomer's Corner by students is lost in history, but it was probably in 1962 or 1963. This was the studied opinion of Pharmacist Mac Lipscomb, who operated the drugstore on the Corner from the early fifties into the eighties.
They rolled the power lines and lamp posts. The trees were off limits because students would set fire to the toilet paper. Actual rolling of the trees began in 1989 after the UA game.
One of AU's horticulture professors wrote a really informative piece on the trees in 2007. You should google it....

False.
If they knew the students would set the paper on fire, that means they would have rolled it earlier.

It was actually in the 1970's. That ticker tape story is made up BS. It is an inferiority complex that drives Auburn fans to create these fairy tales.

I don't know what year they started rolling the corner, but they've only been rolling the trees for about 20 years.
It's all in a nice pdf by AU's horticulture department that is hosted on their .edu domain and has been linked here numerous times.

I attended Auburn for 2 years from 99-2001. No one gave a frick about those damn trees while I was there. The Eagle? Yes. The trees? We were more interested in the bars near the trees than the actual tree.

Probably has something to do with it being on school property, and Auburn is a public university, which receives federal funds.
Isn't a federal property though, it's a public state institution, so it should be state property.
