it would make more sense for LSU and bama fans to be upset about their oaks since they aren't killing them like the auburn fans are. the innocent mr. updyke as just trying to end the trees slow painful death

It would suck, because some of them have been there since the 1830s, but I wouldn't go ape shite. They removed the dogwoods lining the walk up to Denny Chimes and that sucked, but I got over it. I know it's not the same comparison, and the initial reaction was understandable, but the continued obsession is over the line.

Throwing shite tickets at a tree is not a tradition. It's something that adolescences do.

Hanging over the corner are two massive old-growth oak trees, and whenever there is cause for celebration in the Auburn community, the trees are festooned with toilet paper. Also known as "rolling the corner" or "rolling Toomer's," this tradition is said to have begun when Toomer's Drugs had the only telegraph in the city. During away football games, when employees of the local drug store received news of a win, they would throw the ticker tape from the telegraph on to the power lines. The rolling of oak trees started in the early 1990s after the power lines were moved under ground. Traditionally only used as a way to celebrate football victories, in recent years it has become a way to celebrate anything good that happens concerning Auburn.

No some are now wood for houses being rebuilt in New Orleans, but many are well recognized just as students on campus. The Enchanted Garden is a great example.

You mean that thing you do that little girls in JR high do ? Nope, if we tried to roll ours it would get all matted in the Spanish Moss.

IDC how great of a tradition it was, it's a damn tree that you treated like crap. Literally.

BTW Just think how many trees you killed fullfilling your "greatest college football tradition" over the past few decades. Never really thought of that did ya?

Only in your minds is it "part of one of the greatest college football traditions".....When people talk about college football and tradition neither aubrun or throwing toilet paper into a tree is mentioned.

I would be livid if the oak trees in The Grove were poisoned. Not going to lie.
