Malzahn will make a damn good HC somewhere. He's a badass OC.

And my German may be rusty, but if you translate his name literally, it looks like "Dental time".

Leach's QB's were not very highly recruited either and a lot of QB's would find the idea of a Vandy degree appealing.

There is no doubt that Vandy needs something different than what the rest of the conference does.

He would take Kiehl Frazier with him. 2 million would be a steal for Vandy to get Gus.

Would be a great move for Vandy, but that seems like it would be a career killer for Malzahn...

I'm fairly confident Malzahn will stay for one more year. Then, who knows, but I won't bet on him staying for long.

Holding onto a gem like him isn't usually meant to last more than three years.

I agree that QBs would find Leach's system intriguing, but at Vandy you have to find a kid that finds it intriguing, can actually play, AND meets admission requirements. That pool will be very shallow. Not to mention, vandy is in a horrible state for talent. At least Texas Tech could find a looked over kid in Texas that could play and didnt even need to read well.

Vandy wouldnt be able to get a good enough QB to run Leach;s offense

Leach made good college QBs out of midget HS spread QBs in the early 2000s (Symons, Kingsbury, Cumbie). He also recruited some talented QBs out of Texas to run his offense (Potts, Harrell).

If you can get 4-star QBs to come to Lubbock (middle of nowhere) surely he could get solid QBs to Nashville (by your screen name I assume you realize Nashville > Lubbock )

Vandy needs gimmicky shite, end of story.

This is naive. Gus caught lightning in a bottle with Cam. His star will never be brighter than it is right now. If he returns and goes 7-5 then people will think it is Cam and not Gus. He needs to strike while the iron is hot. Not to mention all the stuff going on at AU.

what. he can make his money at vandy, and if it doesn't work out he can go back as a coordinator or sit on his a$$.

How exactly is that naive? His resume, while impressive, can fit on a post-it note. He might just want to wait for a job better than Vanderbilt to come calling.

I'm also fairly confident that you don't know anything that I don't know.

I think GM is gone, but he should get a better gig than Vandy.

Ive said all along that he will never go to Vandy, but if he has a brain then he will take a HC job somewhere this year. See my previous post as to the reasosn why. Without Cam, AU has 4-6 losses and Gus isnt being pursued by anyone. He needs to take advantage before Cam is gone and mediocrity returns.

It's as if people completely forgot that our offense was just fine last year.

He's not going to take the job at Vanderbilt when he turned down Colorado when they were actually interested in him.

he may not take Vandy, but if hes getting 2 mil offers from schools, hes not going to stay at AU. it's fricking stupid to think that

Malzhan could make Vandy a good gig.

Look at Northwestern in the Big 10 and Baylor in the Big 12... perennial academically-superior but athletic doormats. They now have good coaches and creative offenses and they are a threat to beat a good team any week.

If a high profile school comes calling this year, he's gone. You're operating under the assumption that this event occurs.

I don't think a team of the caliber he's searching for comes calling just this year.
