A good GPA plus a starting position on a Division I football team should not be enough to win you a Rhodes Scholarship. Just my opinion, but it's not gonna change.

Why would I want to fight Greg McElroy? I do not delight in McElroy not winning it, but I am happy to see the the scholarship does not get regulated to a contest of who was the smartest football player that year.
Athletics is a factor in the selection process, but it is not the overriding factor.

to care about McElroy NOT getting this award is pretty ridiculous.

The Rhodes scholarship should be reserved for the most elite minds America has to offer.
McElroy and Rolle are both smart, driven students, but they are not elite minds.

College GPA's, SAT's...things like that which have been published.
If Myron Rolle were a white student at FSU, his 3.6 range GPA would not even get him into medical school, not to mention the Rhodes Scholarship.

I didn't honestly think he deserved it compared to others I know or have read about getting it.
Kid is a smart kid, but realistically, that award is for people on a whole other level. His entire platform was he's a winning FB QB.
Still, I wish the kid best of luck.
