I was referring to Myron Rolle with the 3.6 at FSU. I think McElroy had a 3.8 in Marketing. Either way, both do not need to be Rhodes Scholars.

What's his major and which classes has he taken?

Which is why he didn't deserve the scholarship. Easy arse major and a 3.8 with the use of Bryant Hall facilities = a 3.5 for a student without those resources. I have met Greg before and he is smarter than most football players, but relative to the overall student population he is pretty average.

I stand corrected, but a 3.8 in marketing at Alabama is not Rhodes Scholar worthy especially given the amount of help football players get.
I believe Myron Rolle got it largely due to his life before college. The hardships he went through were a large part of it.
Can't say that MacElroy has had a ton of hardships.

The English hate the Irish and they just can't let it go. Did you ever see Braveheart? The ginger never had a chance.

Myron Rolle earned a degree in something like Molecular Biology which is a far cry from marketing. he went to Oxford and earned a MSc in Medical Anthropology. This dude is samert as shite and is going to be an MD.

A 3.8 in marketing at Wharton wouldn't even be Rhodes material under normal circumstances.

I'm of the opinion that a lot of the reason we have lost 2 games this year is because McElroy spent so much time working on this Rhodes Scholarship that he didnt spend the time he should have studying defenses and formations. It shows in the amount of times he checked off at the line changing plays and making routes hot. First part of the season, and all last season he did this WAY more than he has since about 4 weeks in. If you have noticed, we have had a LOT of plays for no or negative yardage that I think could have been changed at the line to something more successful had he spent the time to study his opposition's formations the way he should have.
I know that his future isnt as a football player, and that the Rhodes Scholarship was way more important to him than football, but honestly, im a little butthurt that it has caused us a chance at a national championship again this year (my opinion, you may not agree) and now he didnt even get it. The chance of him actually getting it and being happy for him was the only consolation I was gonna have, guess I dont get that either......
Guess all there is left is to beat Auburn. Bet he has plenty of time to study his film this week.

I think you're all alone in having this opinion. Might as well say that he spent too much time worrying about Grad School.

Its been widely known that he has had trouble making time for it all. I believe that his football prep time has been the portion of his commitments that suffered. It's not by any means a stretch. Makes perfect sense to me.

Most of the kids who win these scholarships are contributing to and actually advancing their fields of study. Check some of this out from 2008's winners:
quote:
In high school, she spent two summers in the labs of Masschusetts General Hospital creating a microfluidic device. There, she “fell in love with research” and returned to Boston to study mechanical and biomedical engineering at MIT. Since that time, she has conducted research at the National Institute of Standards and Tech- nology and the National Institutes of Health, as well as at MIT, where her senior thesis project is to design nanoparticles for cancer imaging.
quote:
Reed’s research on nanoscale materials at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has applications towards improving the efficiency of fuel cells and catalytic converters and towards making medical implants more safe and effective. He has also conducted research on improving the efficiency of titanium-based solar cells.
quote:
She is currently working as the UNHCR Integration Unit liason in Turkey, a post she helped create to increase cooperation and improve needs assessments between headquarters and field operators. As an Insight Fellow, she is analyzing conflicts arising from mixed migrant integration patterns as well as origin, transit and destination country migration policies. Her fellowship work will take her to Morocco, Turkey, and the Netherlands. Last year Rebecca conducted ethnographic research through a Fulbright Grant in Cyprus, where she studied the transference of the refugee identity through the second and third generation and its affect on political behavior.

Widely known? I haven't heard anything about it. So you're saying he should put aside his studies, and his future to study more film. GTFO with that shite. I doubt it made one bit of difference. He's not a professional. This isn't his job.

What was McElroy going to study, reshaping the star on the Dallas helmet.
Give me a break those people are brilliant and he is not in that class of student.
