I mean except for it was interference on a punt return. can't lay the guy out before the ball gets there. And there's nothing impressive about killing a guy who's standing still waiting for a football to get to him.
I don’t know what else to say except ignore the guy. He’s been trying his hardest to ruin the thread
I made my disclaimer at the beginning because I didn’t want this to become the Aaron Murray/Jevan Snead/Cooper Bateman highlight show on a loop. Am I being completely irrational? Does what my OP was looking for make no sense?

I could be wrong, but I believe that was on a second half kick off.
Free ball, no flag in that instance.

1986 - Despite spending 17 years in the NFL, QB Steve Beuerlein once said that "The Sack" during his senior year at Notre Dame in 1986 was the hardest he'd ever been hit. It was Alabama LB Cornelius Bennett who was the culprit. His hit not only jarred the ball loose from Beuerlein -- resulting in a fumble that Bennett himself recovered -- it also knocked Beuerlein out cold.

I think the contact was about the same time that the punt fell into his midsection, in the 80s that's clean FB
But you must want the 2 yd halo to protect the players
No way did he hit him early it was at least simultaneous, close enuff for no penalty, if the guy is bearing down on you, just let the ball hit and back away

I know it’s illegal but Chad Jones against Joe Adams at the goal line in 2009. Wow.
I was sitting in that end zone that was an assasination. But the QBs fault no doubt.

That was a true freshman wr Jarvis Landry on kick off coverage. I’ve never seen a team be so intimidated by special teams as auburn that year (2011). He literally stole their spirit and will

I'm aware. The point was the player getting knocked out in both was the same player (Zach Smith) of Miss State

incorrect. The "halo" rule was in place from 1983 until recently

ok guy
And if you want to talk about the pussification of football, you may need to refresh yourself of some penalties decades ago. In the 50s, players couldn't strike opponents with their elbows, forearms or locked hands. It was a personal foul 15 yard penalty.
In the 1930s, if your feet left the ground on a block, it was a penalty.
In the 1940s and 50s, OL couldn't use their hands to block.
Crackback blocks were illegal in the 70s

Actually did more damage to Jones. Joe pops back up in a couple seconds while Jones is still on his knees. Joe then catches a TD a couple plays later.
