The best A&M can hope for in 2021 is 9 & 3 or 8 & 4. As not only does Jimbo have to break in a brand new freshmen QB, but let's face it, Jimbo's offense is the most antiquated and one of the most lame offenses in the SEC. Which is why they hardly score points relative to the elite SEC teams.
Moreover, the only returning offensive linemen is going to move to left tackle, which is the hardest position on the football team to learn. Hence, 2022 is going to be a learning season for Green. Meanwhile the rest of the offensive line will also all be first time starters. Hence, I hope they are not expecting too much from running game in 2021.
Then as always A&M's receiver corp, on top of everything else, is always subpar. 2021 will not be different.
Now, on the other hand, the defense will be about as stout as last season. Which means A&M will be able to slow down most teams they play in 2021, but the elite offenses like Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU will simply outscore them. Especially Alabama and LSU that both have stronger defenses relative to A&M.
Furthermore, 2020 was a fluke year. As A&M wasn't really as good as its press clipping and they certainly didn't deserve to be in the CFP. I mean, after all they struggled to barely beat Vanderbilt and a very down and out LSU team, and that was with an A&M team with the most experience A&M has ever had since Jimbo has been the head coach over there.
Look for A&M to go back to their routine 9 & 3 or 8 & 4 season in 2021.
