Going for it on 4th down on your own 10 yard line

With nine minutes left. That alone should be enough for a coach to lose their job over. That may be the dumbest play call in the history of Alabama football. This thing is not gonna work. You can’t be that stupid and coach big time college football.

It’s time to call Curt down from Indiana

And if you go for it, at least have a decent play in hand

I agree!
Punt and hope for a turnover. Don’t make it, and it was over. And such an idiotic pass!

Alabama sucks and the jury is out on deboer but it was absolutely the right call to go for that if you're trying to win the game

Yes, if it’s like one minute left on the clock. But not nine.

That is wild that isn’t talked about as much. That was truly a terrible call that ended the game.
The tide wouldn’t have won regardless but the Georgia offense had become anemic and very conservative. 9 minutes left down by 2 scores you punt the ball there. Georgia goes 3 and out you got about 6-7 minutes left. You can get down the field score and try to get the ball back down by one score. Very bad play call.

Now the argument could be made they should have been in damage control mode and just trying to keep it close in which case they should have punted.

WRONG, hes playing to win, you CANNOT WIN by punting there. Bama had 4 starters out. If these games are going to punish teams then every team in the top 12 has to pay and extra game, Miami and Notre Dame, Texas AM vs Oklahoma, or it will just make the title games go away.
Bama is no good, been saying it all year the can't run, but they are better than Miami, Oklahoma, James Madison or Tulane or Virginia.
This No Huddle Offense has made all the teams soft, look at the lack of production by everyone, last week UGA beats Ga. Tech 16-6, look at Indiana vs. OSU, they can beat bad Big Ten teams easily, but OSU only beat Texas 14-7. Everyone runs the same no huddle offense.
A team like 2011 Bama or LSI would drub all these teams by 40. Plus there can be no disciple, hey coach., I will just transfer man.
The state of CFB is awful. Mich. and OSU can now win by buying other teams players, JOKE.

I was thinking the same thing. Don’t convert and you’re guaranteed to be down 3 scores. Bama D was playing well so punt and try to get it back.

You play the odds, the odds of converting were higher than getting a 3 and out. It's not even really a question

No, they’re not. You have no idea if the guy trying to receive the punt wouldn’t have fumbled that kick. It’s just outright idiotic to go for it on fourth down on your own 10 yard line especially when the quarter wasn’t even halfway over. It’s the stupidest call I have ever seen in Alabama coach make and that includes the Ed Sissum call in the iron bowl.

I couldn’t believe it.
Nor could I….punt there and try to get a defensive play or a stop and reset. There was plenty of time left. And IF you go for it in that situation call something else. I’m sure they have several 2pt conversion plays they could’ve called for the 2 yards.

You think there's a better chance of a guy muffing a punt than picking up a 4th and 2? Lol

Deboer has done dumb stuff all year but he has gotten fortunate most of them worked. He is not SEC material. Grubb being employed is proof of that.

The play was there. Simpson had Hill open in the flat on the left side for the easy conversion. Instead he threw it five yards out of bounds on a long throw to the far side of the field. I complain about our short down play calling quite a bit, but there was a first down there. Simpson just didn't execute.
