Georgia's biggest mistake
They thought pressuring Jones would work. They failed to get pressure with the front 4 so they'd bring a 5th, sometimes a 6th.

Jones, OTOH, is the best QB in the country while under pressure.

Best example?

On 2nd and 9, with Alabama on it's own 10 yard line, Georgia brings in #5 off the edge to try and pressure Jones.

Somewhat forgot to inform them that Jones has icewater for blood, because all he does instead is burn Georgia for a 90 yard TD.

Most QBs fear the pass rush.
Mac Jones LIVES for it.

The line and Najee did a hell of a job last night, that's all that can be said about it.

They dropped a lot of passes. The int's are on stetson but he can't catch the ball for the receivers. But the overall defense showed improvement and I can see covid didn't stop tackling drills this week.

Meh. We sacked him twice and forced an INT on those blitzes. I actually thought we got burned more when we only rushed 4 and he had a long time to throw.

Fabricated pressure schemes worked.

21 points off 3 interceptions. 8 batted balls. Multiple other missed opportunities.

That is what cost the game.

any fumble, INT, or turnover on downs, anywhere on the field, is costing the opponent points more often than not this year.

UgA played really well. Bennett is a hell of a player. Just a bit short in necessary arm talent and measurables for this level of play and his WRs didn't help when the plays were there.

You dont leave jones a clean pocket. He will pick apart any defense when he steps into his throws. He is an 80% completion passer when given time to find his target (and Smith comes back to the ball).

The game plan was to pressure Bama with mixed pressures (4, 5, and 6) with exotic designs (all on one half of the line or with boundary and even field corners).

Bama picked it up with the 5 OL and tailback. They never got confused in where to look. The first TD was a boundary blitz beater. That's a win for the OC. That's great coaching and scheming by Sark.

re: Georgia's biggest mistake
Georgia's biggest mistake is bigger than that -- more of a large-scale strategic folly.

Kirby does not and will never understand that in today's game, you need a high-powered offense that will outscore the other team's. You cannot shut down a modern offense with elite skill players. Not even with the best defenders in the country.

Kirby MUST update the offense. He needs a modern passing attack, and he needs to play QBs who have legit arm talent and not just game managers.

But Kirby won't do that, and THAT is Georgia's biggest mistake.

Biggest mistake was getting away from the run game in the 2nd half and putting the outcome on Stetson’s shoulders.

He’ll be in the playoff and not get 70 hung on him..like Oklahoma would.. and II still don’t buy the scoring trumps defense argument.
