UGA is a top 10 team because it’s UGA not because of how they have played.

I get that you want to think this way, but this isn't what is accurate based on rankings.

UGA has played the toughest schedule of any undefeated SEC team right now. You could argue LSU has played a slightly tougher schedule... but LSU lost to Southern Cal.

Among the undefeated teams only two of them have a win against a team that is ranked now... Texas (who played Michigan) and UGA (who played Clemson).

UGA has also played a second major conference team. Texas has not done so yet.

This doesn't mean UGA is the best team in the conference. But they are the most proven as of right now because they've played the toughest first 3 games.

Through week 2 Texas had a higher SOR if you just want to compare undefeated teams. Texas SOR was #1 and Georgia is #3.

I'm not sure how much that will change after yesterdays games.

Alabama's was #13, but I figure after Wisconsin it will go up a little.

I'm not sure if it will change as I'm not familiar with how that is calculated, but it should.

UGA has played a ranked team another major conference team and a cupcake.

Texas has played a ranked team and 2 cupcakes.

Bama has played a major conference team and 2 cupcakes.

If we keep looking at those 3 teams, next week UGA and Bama have byes and Texas plays a third cupcake.

Week after than Texas plays MSU (a major conference team, but possibly the worst SEC team). UGA and Bama play each other. They'd both be ahead of Texas in terms of schedule.

UGA has the toughest schedule right now and looks like they'd stay with the toughest schedule through that point at least. Probably the whole season.

Without researching it much...LSU has played a tougher one and you could argue South Carolina has played one as tough so far as well

Kentucky’s defense was very good.

But you have to admit it’s not difficult to stop their O

UGA is slightly overrated

Your game against Clemson was in fricking Atlanta. Don't act like you didn't have the advantage there.

This argument is always strange. Are you saying Auburn has no advantage over Alabama when they play at Auburn because it is located in the same state?

My own eyes don't lie

We've got no problem with Texas being named #1.

I would love UGA to be dropped a few places. We could live without the rat poison.

They didn't even make the playoff, yet they're talked about like they're the defending champs

Even the best teams sometimes have a bad game while playing "inferior" talent that are playing their Superbowl game. We faced down these types of games in the Big12 on the regular, you know this.

I wouldn't say we are Kentucky's superbowl by any stretch. They played hard and well. They deserve the credit.

Having said that, I didn't really watch the game..

We had trouble tackling their running backs. They played extremely hard and their fans were really into the game as well. It is what it is. They deserve all the credit in the world for the game.

Until we show up consistently, Texas deserves to be ranked #1. Or Ohio State.

Who is better in the SEC? Only Texas, Bama, Tennessee and Ole Miss. Are you telling me that UGA can't get in with four losses?

Yep. Because 3 of the 4 teams that made the playoff lost their head coach and the 4th one is coached by a drunk.

Smart runs a stout but conservative defense and a vanilla safe offense. He most beats teams with talent and not mental chess moves.

Yes. And?

That's what you do when you out-talent your opponent. Most of the time all you get by taking risks when you're way more talented is open the chance to let mistakes give your opponent a chance.

UGA has opened things up when they needed to and done pretty well (like against OSU in 2022 or Bama in the NCG in 2021 or OU and Bama back in 2017). But UGA always plays to win the game. Not to pad stats.

They always struggle to score in Lexington. That's all this is.

Nice concern troll
