Also - since no one seems to want to answer this, UGA was founded by academics from Princeton who implemented the first phase of Ben Franklin's educational system - which became the University System as we know it. Yes - we were the first. Not sure why we stole Harvard's bulldog, though ...

It was Yale's bulldog, primarily because Abraham Baldwin, founder of UGA, was a Yale grad.
