Auburn just borrowed its mascot, the flying buzzard, from a Yankee WBTS regiment that carried a buzzard named “ole Abe” that flew around it when they were looting, burning, and pillaging.

LOL. College acceptance smack is the weakest smack. Besides, I'm old enough to have picked a school back when one could get into UGA by autographing the back of a cocktail napkin. I declined.
But Athens was a great place to pick up chicks though. If you are a UGA poster in the 35-40 year old range with a mom alum, there's a not completely remote chance that I picked her up at some dive bar. Sorry I was an absentee father.
Any student that is serious about education turns down UGA in favor of the North Avenue Trade School. That is where my acknowledged progeny went to school.

I don't really read up much about Georgia or LSU, but it is interesting that General Sherman was the 1st Superintendent of LSU. You would think LSU and Georgia fans wouldn't get along as well as they do, seeing as he burned a large portion of their state. Bygones I guess.

Ahh General Sherman. Ran over Georgia, President of LSU, and buried in Missouri. Him and Grant who put his library at Mississippi State are big SEC fans.
