I think Georgia should be very good next year if we can get the OL to be a reasonable unit. I also think people seriously overstate UGA's situation this past season. The OL made it impossible for UGA to be good.

Though it seems like UGA should be good but how many times have we heard this in the past? I'm hoping you guys have finally put it together so we can have one of those epic championship games again. IMO that was the best SEC championship game of all time.

UGA has been generally pretty good for most of the past 15-16 years.

Alright so if everything stays the same with current recruiting numbers (I realize most teams will fill out more, but that includes Georgia):

Georgia: 10- 5 stars, 49- 4 stars.
Tennessee: 2- 5 stars, 33- 4 stars
Florida: 2- 5 stars, 23- 4 stars
South Carolina: 0- 5 stars, 23- 4 stars
Mizzou: 1- 5 stars, 4- 4 stars
Kentucky: 0- 5 stars, 12- 4 stars
Vandy: 0- 5 stars, 9- 4 stars

So yeah, only Tennessee and Florida have even close to the talent, but they aren't even close to the talent Georgia has on the bench. plus Tennessee loses so many key contributors in Dobbs, Malone, Barnett, Kamara, Hurd, etc. that it will be extremely hard to get a good season.

Georgia is going to smash the East next season. Book it.

As a Gator fan i would be more worried if Richt was still the HC, not as much with Kirby running the show.

Did you watch our OL play this year?

I did, they played pretty freakin good the last 4 games.
Why is this so difficult to acknowledge?

Agreed, not the most talented group ever BUT good Lord,
can we give these guys some credit?

Coaching and was just as big an issue as talent

So....you can't remember 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014? Hmmm.....

You should see a doc about that.

OK, let me rephrase. They were a terrible fit for what UGA wants to do. They did better when UGA switched back to basically their old scheme.

Kirby certainly walked into a better situation than McElwain. I think McElwain is a good coach. His first year they were doing try outs on the Oline and no QB. Won the East. Thats why I have a hard time accepting that UGAs issues were all Oline recruting related. That and their Oline got plenty for Chubb and Michel in Richts last year and I think it was the same line except 1 spot. 2 guys on their line were preseason SEC team and they werent there at the end of the year. I think Chaney and Pittman lacked somehow with them.

Not a slight UGA fans. Ive heard this argument talked about on 680. It made some sense to me.

I think Mac is far and away a better coach than Smart, the problem is I think Smart is equally superior in recruiting prowess-- its X's & O's vs. Jimmy's and Joe's and talent usually wins out.

We'll have SIXTY+ 4/5 star players on this roster
with this recruiting class in '17. The most talented roster BY FAR in 15 years. No excuses at all for KS in '17

I agree Chaney did change up the gameplan near the end. They did play better. Definitely ran better. Could have been a product of lesser competition. UGAs Oline beat GT up pretty good. They got good push against us. Again...Chaney dialing that pass instead of running the ball. They even called a TO after showing the alignment and came back out in the same play. Twice that happened to UGA this year. Burned them both times. Not great.

He could be but it's simply too early to tell. This was Smart's first year as a head coach. Mac was able to cut his teeth out in Fort Collins before taking over. That experience is huge. Kinda the reason I'm not going to judge Kirby until after year 3.
