Much as I dislike Congress I thought it was the Supreme Court.

Surprising after he laid an egg in the title game and got UGA bounced from the playoffs.

Kirby also laid an egg...yet this author thinks Smart should be Coach of the Year and not Saban.

Universities essentially running a minor league football league and running it by the seat of their pants.

Got to let him walk at that number.

He won't get it at any other college.

How many returning QBs do you think are better than Carson Beck? I think a 'demand' like this is ridiculous, but Beck will be one of the top returning QBs in the country next year.

Doesn’t matter. Let him walk. The NIL allows players to make money, but schools can’t let players weaponize it.

Spencer Sanders used that same strategy. Wonder how that is working out for him?

I guess he could go to the NFL and probably make $4mil easy.

Probably where the number came from. He thinks he'd get drafted in the middle rounds and that's about how much his contract would be worth. I get it from his perspective, especially if he's tired of playing school, but the whole NIL situation is just out of control and has basically turned college football into this pseudo independent minor league where the team owners are willing to pay a AAAA player big money not to accept a call up.

I’m more interested in the crybaby bitching about Drink winning COY over Smart.

It is kind of ridiculous. And this shite is not sustainable. No matter how much money people are willing to throw around. It’s off the rails. And we can thank the US Congress once again for fricking something else up.

I legitimately hate what CFB has become.

Not to mention the hinted at reasoning for a high number being that his backup left and now he has more leverage over the program.

I get that's how you do business in the NFL, but this isn't the NFL. I just don't see it, but it's possible this is the game and it's already just the norm.

$4 Million was the number Griffiths mentioned about a week or so before the SEC CG, before Brock entered the portal. He actually mentioned it on Finebaum. Said something to the effect that UGA has over a million in place but it was going to take $4 million. I also heard it on another show on XM the week before the SEC CG.

It seems like an insane amount of money BUT when you look at what these programs make a year, is it? It is entirely conceivable that Beck is responsible for more revenue that goes to Title iX compliance than what he is asking for...

Yes it is crazy. Find a QB for 1 million. Find a couple of million dollar WRs and a dominant interior DL for another million. Tell Beck to go to the pros.

It was. 1/3 of that illustrious body sees racism in every institution on the planet and 2/3 of it believes that rules are for poor people and wealthy boosters have a natural, God given right to spend their money in any way they see fit with zero oversight or restrictions because they're inherently better than the rest of us. Their hate for the NCAA is one of the few things that unites them.

LOL at paying a QB that kind of money

This is in line with market rates for QB’s at other big-time programs & a heck of a lot cheaper than NFL contracts.

He straight up threw three dropped interceptions in Atlanta. Maybe four, I forget.

Same. Eventually it could get out of control and totally bankrupt the sport. All these players and schools forget where the money comes from. It isn’t from some limitless fund. It’s from working people like me and you who spend our earned money to support our favorite teams. With the way things are going, you will start seeing people keep their money. Tickets are more expensive than ever. Merch is more expensive than ever. Tailgating is more expensive than ever. Players don’t stick around and transfer or they opt out of any post season play that isn’t for the natty. At some point, people will stop supporting their teams because the intangibles that separated the college game from the NFL will be gone.

Mike Griffith is a clown. Finebaum brings him on his show to make fun of him.

Please don’t use anything Griff says as reputable reporting.
