I learned this from a guy who gambles for a living. His only job. Mainly bet on sports but did hit the casinos and count cards ever so often.

He said Vegas bets on games as well. Most of the time they're trying to get even money on games, but if they spot where a national narrative and belief has two teams closer than where they should be, they'll try to exploit it and make it look like "the easiest play in history".

I'm not saying that's what is going on here. They've moved this spread down a point and a half. But 80% of the bets are going UT. Don't know if the money is that far off.

BTW, it's not like they win their bets 100 percent of the time. He said they are right somewhere between 52 to 55% of the time any given year. So, that'd still mean there's a good chance they are wrong even if they feel UGA will win comfortably.

This was said in the Bama spread thread, the LSU thread, etc. Vegas got their lunch eaten both times. Maybe this time they'll be right.

LSU and UK were much easier. At least UGA could realistically cover those points

People don't understand how gambling works. You try to get a slight edge and let it play out over large numbers.

Card counting only gives you about a 50.5 to 51% edge. Over a short period, you can lose a lot, but over a year or two years, you should be in the black.

Again, they know they'll "get their lunch eaten" a lot. They're just playing those 55 percent odds over the long haul.

I really don't think this game is going to be that close. Georgia wins comfortably. Tennessee's pass defense is one of the worst in the nation and Georgia has the defense to slow down Tennessee. Muschamp is gonna show Pete Golding how it's done, but unfortunately, Golding won't be taking notes.

I don't feel it will be close either. UT was pretty lucky against Bama and with this game in Athens, it could be over by end of the 3rd.

Probably something similar to what we saw last year.

UT tries to come out fast but GA's Def tightens up and the scripted plays don't seem to work anymore.

But the line often moves where the money moves. If they are trying to outsmart the public by not moving the line, they lost. And it's a trend for Tennessee this year. I don't think it's indefensible. A look at talent and recent experience says Georgia rolls. But this Tennessee team is riding a pretty good ride right now. If I was Vegas, I'd start tightening the line.

You don’t think the Vols can execute the quick pass to the flats?

I am taking the Vols in this one. No reason, just gut. They seem like a team of destiny to me and I think they win over Georgia. But I also think it will be a great game, and close.

I don't think that will score you more than 3 points a possession.

Seems like it. If I were a betting man, I would take it.

Y'all keep repeating this about our fans. Are you under the impression the fans will be playing the game and the teams will be staying home?

UT was pretty lucky against Bama

Luck went both ways in that game. On consecutive possessions, Tennessee scored a TD, fumbled for a Bama Scoop and Score, and Scored a TD.

The fumble recovery TD by Bama was essentially a 14 point swing. If Tennessee scores on that possession to go up 49-42 instead of down 49-42, things may have played out a little differently. Remember...that scoop and score were Bama's last points scored in that game.

Seems like an odd game to pick. We beat them 48-7 had 208 yards rushing and 330 yards passing.

If you are looking for some close games and basing your opinion on those maybe you should take a look at UT/Fla or UT/Pitt

Bot of those have 4 losses and UT struggled with them.
It happens. Don't get me wrong. I think Tennessee is legit and has an excellent team. I just find it odd that you picked SC as a game to prove we struggle and then ignore games that UT struggled in.

Listen up. When Vols beat UGA by two plus touchdowns this weekend i don't want to hear excuses or they didn't bring their Oregon style A game because UGA can bring it's best game of the year and still lose by 20 plus. Vols are that good if we are firing on all cylinders.

I think it is possible that Tennessee beats us by 2 TDs. Are you going to be around if UGA beats Tennessee?

Lol this isn’t accurate but even if it were, why do Georgia posters keep harping on this like it’s some negative?

I am no Vince Lombardi but hear me out. It seems like using one of the fastest receivers in the country in an elite scheme that produces a lot of wide open passes is a great idea for winning football games
