Would you feel like Bama fans did in 2008? Knew we’d be back fairly quick fwiw. Though, I don’t believe Georgia would have the luxury of facing Tim Tebow twice and 22 returning players on defense. This Georgia team does give me a Bama 2008 kind of feel to it. Nearly same offense and defense and they are way ahead of schedule.

Is it safe to assume that you realistically expect around...say 2 national championships within the next 10 years, just for the sake of argument? The events that have transpired at Georgia over the course of 2 years make me wonder just how much of Bama’s recruiting machine Kirby actually was.

You feel like that, but you can never be certain. It will depend on some of our key juniors returning.

Not quite. I expect us to be in the mix under kirby but I'm not sure about '18. I think '19 and onwards when these recruiting classes start coming up is when we'll be a mainstay but I just think we'll lose too much on defense after this year.

Also saban had already won a title and was a proven coach while kirby has been a hc for 2 years.

If I was a UGA fan I wouldn't take anything for granted. Mark Richt years should be an example of how great teams can lose games and have bad luck with standings.

Unfortunately I think some UGA fans view that as a Richt problem that Kirby fixed, rather than the reality of the situation that putting it all together is incredibly difficult and requires a lot of luck. Even Alabama under Saban has been very fortunate with how rankings/other teams losing has worked, and they get a (mostly deserved) benefit of the doubt no one else will get

I really believe many things have to go wrong for us to not be in the running in ‘19 and ‘20

2019 is the next big year.

There is never a guarantee how things will go the next 2 seasons. But we have to be liking our depth with the past several recruiting classes. It helps to withstand suspensions, injuries, and transfers.

Similar to 2002, we feel relevant for the next 5 years. Getting over the hump will be on the QB play and keeping quality coaches.

I like the direction we're headed, but all it takes is a little bad luck to keep you from getting to this game. I expect to compete for SECC on a regular basis.

While most of this is true, those of us who follow the program are able to see the changes that Kirby has made in recruiting and with the mentality of the team and feel like that will lead to more consistency at the top of the rankings/standings. Whether that results in national championships is difficult to tell, but you have to be up there to have a shot and I think we will be under Kirby more often than we were under Richt.

We are currently two years ahead of schedule Nationally. In the East, we will stay leaps and bounds ahead for at least 2-3 seasons just based on us recruiting more talent this year than the rest of the East combined.

We lose big names but in many positions have as good or better behind them.

If we win it all this year, it's an early bonus. Basically a give me with mostly the past staffs players. Though Kirby has done far more with them.

I am very pleased with this season regardless.

I said before the Rose Bowl that, as a fan, we are playing with house money and I still feel that way.

I didn't expect any of this to begin the year so I'm really just enjoying the ride and am happy to watch my team get to test itself against the league standard.

We are going to be good next year and are poised to have an incredible 2019 squad. Win or lose, I have no regrets on the year and was privileged to see UGA play in a rare game that I think was better then the 2012 SECCG and actually win it.

I don't know that we make the playoff in '18 but we should be firmly in the discussion for the SECCG.

Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Miami will all be good and though Auburn loses some of its best players, there's a lot to like in their receivin corps, Stidham, and DL. We have LSU and Caorlina on the road and both teams should be improved from solid years this year.

Still, we slide Andrew Thomas over to LT from RT where he started every game as a freshman. Carter and Bellamy are replaced with Walker, Grant, and Adam Anderson. We lose Dom in the defensive backfield but add Lecounte as a starter. Chubb and Sony are replaced with Swift, Holyfield, and Zeus White. Fromm is a sophomore.

There's a lot to like about our 2018 squad.

I get the feeling we’re going to be dealing with Georgia for years to come. I think it’s exactly what the SEC needs. A dominant team from the west, and now a dominant team from the east.

And from 2002 until about 2008, we were relevant winning 2 SECCGs and 2 Sugar Bowls, playing for 3 SECCGs. The big difference between then and now is that Richt seemed to have no concept as to how to manage a program longterm, how to make tough personnel, decisions with declining coaches, and how to manage a roster for quality depth. When Meyer and Saban got here, Richt had no answer from a managerial standpoint. He just couldn't compete top to bottom and he had no idea how to demand the support from UGA's admin that Kirby has demanded since day 1.

In other words, Richt learned how to run a program under Bowden, Kirby under Saban. Bowden is good but Saban may be the best ever.

We've been extremely fortunate this year in regards to injuries.
That being said, I sure like the way we're trending.

The last time Thuga was relevant on the nation scene Jimmy fricking Carter was President. They won't be looking forward to the next time if they lose

Rising tide (no pun intended) raises all ships. Bama and Auburn success pushed UGA to get to where it is, UGA now doing the same to Florida with Mullen and Tennessee (at least I think so. Tennessee has kind of been stumbling around aimlessly for close to 2 decades so it's hard to tell if Pruitt will be more of the same).

I suspect UF will be good enough to push UGA again in 2019. UT is a big question mark still. Muschamp will be a thorn in everyone's side but won't get USC back to peak Spurrier years.

Auburn is the new Richt's UGA fluttering from amazing to mediocre, oftentimes within the same season.

Many years Alabama will be waiting in Atlanta.

UGA has a nice opportunity though, they should be the favorite in the east for the next 2-3 years at least.

Win or lose, I’m very happy with the success of this team. Winning the SECCG and the Rose Bowl has been a great ride. UGA is one win away from Glory, but I truly believe this is just the beginning. Kirby is recruiting at an all time elite level, and we’re finally spending money. I want the W tomorrow more than anything, but Bama is the gold standard in CF. They absolutely deserve to be in Atlanta, so I’m looking forward to the test.
