I like this one because it was a rivalry game. Sark spent over 2/3 of the 4th quarter just making sure no starters got hurt.

As a UGA fan that game wasn't interesting after about a quarter. I can only imagine what it was like for the rest of CFB.

If you weren’t interested in your team winning the national championship then why are you even watching the sport?

I didn't post I wasn't interested in UGA winning the game I said the game wasn't interesting for more than about a quarter....it was 17-7 at the end of the first and TCU had done frick all in the first. Being interested in UGA winning a natty and that game being interesting for more than about a quarter, as I posted, are not the same thing. I watched every minute of it....it wasn't interesting football, it as an epic beatdown and had it not been UGA and UGA winning a natty I would not have watched more than a half if that...it was 38-7 at the half for fricks sake.

I believe Michigan would have beaten TCU had it NOT been for the cheating. The word is that TCU was tipped off to the Stalion's/Harbaugh sign stealing and used it against them, (old signals with now different plays/coverages) leading to JJ's 2 horrific pick 6's and jumping out to a big lead.

When Michigan adjusted and began playing straight(er) up, they were able to come back and make a game of it.

Could have scored 130, Stetson takes a bow early third....

FSU was worse...

That game was as close to even as you can get.
Bama out gained LSU by 60 total yards.
LSU had 150 rushing yards vs 100 for Bama. Bama threw for 200 to LSU’s 100.
Both teams turned it over 2x.
LSU made the plays to win on Bama’s home field, and Bama did not.
I have no idea what Miles’ gameplan was in the rematch, I think his stubbornness made him believe he could use the same approach as 9-6 and win.
He was going up against the GOAT Saban and it showed.

I think anyone any non-partisan would watch that game and say Alabama outplayed LSU but missed too many field goals. I'd need to rewatch but that game felt like Alabama was constantly moving the ball into scoring range whereas LSU had 3 or 4 productive drives all game but the least football player on the roster outperformed Alabama's least football player on the roster.

Edit: Also, Alabama probably wins that game outright if the SEC officials remembered joint possession with the offensive player down by contact with the ground is a catch not a strip interception.

To be fair: objectively LSU was fricked.

The gameplan in the first game was to match our defense against their offense, and have Jarrett Lee run the pro-style offense we'd been running the first half of the season. That was a no-go; we could not run, and Lee was rattled under heavy pressure. There were several "should have been pick-6's" that Lee got away with. Les pulled him before disaster struck

Jefferson running option was the ace in the hole, Saban et al weren't prepared for that. And eventually, LSU wore them down and finally ran on them in OT.

What was his gameplan in the rematch? He stuck with Jefferson, because he knew Lee would collapse under pressure... and there just wasn't another backup plan. That Bama team was elite, you couldn't take the same team and beat them twice. Hell, they blew everyone else out, including Arkansas who was damn good.

Call it whining if you like, I don't care- that was unfair to LSU. Alabama was the consensus best team in the country (favored game 1), LSU went into their stadium, played their asses off and got lucky breaks, and came away with the win. That's happened a few times in football, and oh well, the better team lost. They didn't get another chance because everyone thought they were the better team... except that year, it happened.

You probably should go back and rewatch it. Williams did not maintain possession to complete the catch. The ball never hit the ground, Eric Reid gained possession, and was immediately down by contact.
I pointed out the stats were similar, LSU out rushed Bama. It doesn’t matter that it seemed like Bama was moving the ball at will on LSU .
You’re ignoring the fact that the game was on your own home field.

No matter what, bama was going to win the game that night.

However, I don’t think Les got the flack he deserved for sticking with Jefferson the entire game. Lee should’ve been put into the game after Jefferson’s horrendous pic in the 3rd quarter.

LSU had 60 total yards and 1 first down with 3 minutes left in the 3rd. Jefferson looked completely inept, the running game was stuffed… and LSU was still only down 12 points.

I remember watching the game completely perplexed they didn’t even try to go with Lee when he had proven at least adapt at commanding the offense for half the season. Jefferson was a terrible qb and LSU was talented enough to win all year despite of him. At the very least try the system they did with Matt Flynn and Periloux and switch back and forth when your offense couldn’t move the ball a yard.

TCU was simply mismatched and UGA was as good as good can get for that 60 minutes.

FSU was an institutional failing which is indicative of the character at FSU across the board. Quitting is a disease that is damn near impossible to cure....and thats what FSU did, quit....pooched their lip out and quit. They were going to get beat like a rented mule either way. UGA had done the same thing against Texas a few years prior to that game the cultural difference is UGA bounced back nicely because the program top to bottom wont accept quitting. FSU has yet to recover and probably never will.

Fair enough

That's my point though, it was an Alabama home game, they had more productive possessions but their kicker didn't cash them in...that by definition is LSU stealing one.

No slight meant, LSU was a fantastic football team. However, watching that game you definitely come away thinking Alabama lost it more than anything. It wasn't like the kicker was launching them with 100k drunk cajuns shouting in Tiger Stadium. Missing those kicks at home is a big donkey move.

There have been some horrifically lopsided games in the Red River Shootout. Bob Stoops hung some awful beatings on Mack Brown.
