Columbia, SC sux arse, badly.

While I don’t care if SC is a permanent rival or not, I agree. But that’s just my $0.02.

Well, maybe not the downtown of Columbia alone. But I can’t understand why they’d put the stadium that far away from the town.

Now, it’s been a long time since I have been there, so maybe it’s grown a bit. But as a visiting fan I remember the gameday experience being not good. No walkability between downtown, campus, and the stadium.

Not like Athens, where I can park my car when I get there early morning and then have relatively easy walkable access to downtown, campus, tailgating and the stadium.

Maybe I need to go back and give Columbia another chance if the game is scheduled later during the season. But I don’t actually attend games in general much anymore.

South Carolina has been UGA 9x since 1995. Vanderbilt has beaten UGA 3x.

Georgia and USCe should be played every year. I like the way South Carolina mucks things up for Georgia.

It's true. Even if sidewalk UGA fans don't want to admit it.

South Carolina is 8-16 against UGA since 2000. They got the benefit of the Muschamp years and early Beamer years to inflate that record.

Some wins include:

2019: Unranked SC wins @ #3 UGA
2014: #24 SC wins over #6 UGA
2012: #6 SC wins over #5 UGA
2007: Unranked SC wins @ #11 UGA
2000: Unranked SC wins over #10 UGA

I'm just south of the border from Charlotte and over the 11 years I've been here, especially since 2020 and covid, the bullshite has gotten worse to where it makes me want to move somewhere, preferably coastal, to be by like minded people. The reasons I left North Jersey are the same reasons I'm wanting to leave where I'm at now. I'm a Ramblin' Man, haha, that just wants the simple life and no nonsense.

Yep! which makes USCe a worthy opponent to me. Dont know why Georgey fans act like I am saying USCe is just as good. The 2019 game was a real doozy and not many teams could do that.

So does Athens. BUT they swallow it....

Google "best college towns in America". Hint: You'll see Athens mentioned very frequently and Columbia never.

As a UGA fan who lives in Augusta I would prefer USC as the third permanent if there is a third....the games are usually pretty competitive, USC fans are pretty good folks and its about the same distance for me to Columbia as it is to Athens. There is also a pretty decent festival in Augusta the Friday evening before the game that is pretty fun...almost a bowl game atmosphere, usually early in the season when both fan bases are pretty eager for the season to start. Its in the Green Jackets stadium now so its not as much fun as it was when it was on the commons but it is still pretty unique.

That said Kentucky and Vanderbilt are truer conference rivals for UGA than USC simply from a longevity POV....both are original SEC members and UGA played both most years since the SEC started. The difference in numbers of games are not much and UGA has dominated all 3 but the games against USC are generally more competitive than UK and especially Vandy, on average.

Tennessee

UGA and Tennessee almost never played before conference expansion and the creation of divisions. It has become a rivalry since but, from a UGA fans perspective, playing Tennessee has about as much interest for me as playing Ole Miss, LSU or Mississippi State....younger fans will have a far different POV but UGA and Tennessee managed to avoid one another most years prior to the creation of divisions in the SEC.

Georgia fans, especially wealthy Georgia alum have no desire to visit Columbia every other year when they can do a bourbon trail somewhere that isn’t a fairground 150 feet above sea level with a heat index of 125.

The UGA Kentucky game was, once upon a time, played during the horse racing season in Lexington and it was a pretty big road trip for a LOT of UGA fans...I have always thought it was a big reason why UGA played UK almost if not every year.....Munson used to bitch about it "spitting snow" almost every year LOL....when I was a kid and listening to Munson on the radio I thought Lexington Kentucky was about as exotic and far away from Atlanta as a person could get....

Well it seems to depend on how good we are. UGA was 6-5 vs Spurrier when he was at Carolina.

Being honest most our history has been pretty bad, but when Carolina has a competent coach its a really fun series. Carolina seems to be improving and on the rise so it could be a fun series again, even if UGA wins a heavy majority of the time, the games should be close

and it took them having the coaching advantage with Holtz and Spurrier to do it.

You're a moron if you think coaching has a bigger effect on a game than pure talent. It can, occasionally, but we all know typically talent wins on the field. Coaching decisions can certainly help lose games though.
