In getting ready for the series tonight, I was looking at tickets (seeing if it sold out yet, not quite) and checked out UF's field. I knew it wasn't supposed to be anything special, but had never really looked into it. I have to say it really isn't anything special. No premium seating, no shade, and some not so great sight lines down the LF line. Now this isn't meant to be a shite talking/troll thread. Obviously UF's program is legit and I am generally curious if there are any plans for renovation.

It's a dump and also facing the wrong direction. There aren't any plans to renovate it right now since we're currently remodeling the O Dome and Foley is a cheap bastard.

Damn that is truly terrible.. The off white scorers box with the 6 flags monument on top is awful.

As for baseball, it is a part of the master plan. Foley has said rotating the field probably won't happen. We don't need the support facilities, they were built during the last renovation. This time we can focus entirely on the stadium.

Just a thought to the Gator fans...try suggesting to Foley that he convert McKethan to the new home of UF softball, since a new stadium for that sport is needed anyways...

From this...

to this...

..and then build a new, state-of-art baseball stadium where the softball stadium is now. Just make sure to orient the stands to the NE or NW this time.

Problem(s) solved. You're welcome!

No need to dump money into baseball

With all the SEC Network money coming in, no school has any reason anymore not to have sparkling, state-of-the-art facilities in every sport.

It's tucked in right by football practice fields. Florida does deserve a lot better but I've been on that campus and there is no room to make a decent renovation on current site and they are pretty much landlocked.

Until the one and done rule is changed I would put more resources in baseball over hoops right now and in the SEC it shows.

I was there several years ago for a UT/UF series. Was surprised how bad a good program like Gator baseball's stadium looked.

It matches the surrounding area very well, would be out of place if they changed too much.

UF's baseball is traditional woefully underachieving. yes, they have some some good teams at times and are better than some SEC programs but for the state of Florida they are mediocre. Miami and FSU are much better programs and in any given year at least one of the other schools in the state are as good or better.

I was speaking more so of recent history. Since 2010 they have 6 NCAA appearances, 5 conference titles, and 3 trips to Omaha. Not national titles, but 95% of programs would trade for that.

How is FSU much better when they don't have any titles either?

It has taken McGarity 5+ years just to shake off the cheapness of Foley. But when Florida wins like it does across the board, who gives a shite about updating facilities

They need an overhang for shade in the worst way. I was there in 2012 for the duper regionals when the gators hosted Mississippi state. All 3 games were noon first pitch and it was mid 90's the metal bleachers were so dang hot

I was there for those games as well. Great series, by the way. And, yes, they were as hot as any game I've been to at McKethan. Just brutal.

As another poster mentioned, upgrades are coming. How extensive is the question. It really needs a lot of work.

Improvements are coming...Foley knows its needed and our current baseball team is killing it and did so well last year. As already posted...we are knee deep in remodeling O Dome and doing several other things....but trust me....baseball will get its share of $$ to change the current field and box seating for supporters will be added.
UF isnt poor.

Overhangs were looked into. It was determined that building them would be of little to no help with shading the stadium in its current orientation.

I'd just go for air conditioned seats at this point or sell lots of beer.
