If the SEC is going to poach ACC teams, it would make some sense that Tech is one of them. Otherwise Tech probably ends up in B1G and that gets OSU, Michigan, PSU playing regularly right in the heart of SEC country. I’d think Tech is a worthwhile member if for nothing else but to lock down the SE.

I love all the bitter Texas A&M fans regarding the Gentleman's agreement.
FSU is broke and their alumni base is poor. They did not have the money to pay for the facilities that Jimbo wanted after winning a national title. Being in the SEC would be a bandaid to a much bigger problem.

Clemson and FSU aren't going anywhere (and neither is any other ACC team...)

The ACC has an ‘exit fee’ to leave the conference set right at about $52 million. I know what you’re thinking here: What’s the big deal? Clemson would make enough off its first year of television revenue payout in the SEC to cover that ‘exit fee’ and there’s a chance that the SEC would even pitch in to help.
While that exit number is doable, it’s the league’s Grant of Rights agreement that all but keeps schools locked into the conference.
For those who are unfamiliar, a Grant of Rights agreement is written permission from an institution- like Clemson- to relinquish control of television rights for the duration of the deal. The ACC’s deal is set to expire in 2036. If you leave the ACC, you forfeit the television earnings. So, when you total what Clemson might make off its ACC television payout, you’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars.

FSU's president spoke out yesterday about not wanting FSU to be left behind (he's retiring next month).
I think FSU and Clemson would be the next logical choices to join the SEC.
FWIW....UGA's only 70 miles from downtown Atlanta, where GT is located....Athens is part of the Atlanta metro. I wouldn't necessarily see a need to invite Georgia Tech because the ATL is Bulldog-dominant.

FSU's President also understands that FSU/Clemson are similar (in football) to the ACC what OU/Texas was to the Big 12.
FSU and Clemson are now a package deal and they are looking, listening and willing to deal.
Let the games begin.

Alabama for starters.
They even get a nice mention in our fight song.

And I wouldn’t want FSU for a similar reason. They already turned the SEC down once.
But, so did Texas turn down the SEC in 1992. Now, they had to beg us to take them.

Right but they still have more than 10 Tv windows a weekend they want to fill.
Wouldn’t be difficult at all coming up with 20 big boys.
1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Georgia
4. Florida
5. Auburn
6. FSU
7. Texass
8. Oklahoma
9. Notre Dame
10. Michigan
11. Ohio State
12. Clemson
13. USC
14. Oregon
15. Tennessee
16. Penn State
17. Texas A&M
18. Nebraska
19. Arkansas
20. Wisconsin
And you still have UCLA, Stanford, Purdue, Baylor, Missouri, Ole Miss, Michigan State, West Virginia , North Carolina, South Carolina, TCU, etc.
All the tv money.
Said all of this yesterday. But Draconian Sanctions said it wouldn't happen, so....
Texass is openly advocating for this within 5 years, guarandamteed.

they left on bad terms and have enemies that actually arent UGA.
Alabama for starters.
As I remember, Bryant sponsored GA. Tech for re-admission in mid 1970's and spent alot of his personal capital going to bat for them with other teams in the league to get the votes for GA. Tech to be re-admitted. He also smoothed over some of the issues from early 1960's that resulted in GA. Tech leaving. They seemed ready to petition re-admission then last second backed out. Seemed that burned a lot of bridges with Bama, especially those living today associated with Bama that had ties back to Coach Bryant.
You would know more than me on the details but that is how I remember it.

Seems like this might well become a new League of sorts, something like the "National Collegiate Football League" (NCFL).
I've been reading quite a bit lately about Clemon and FSU joining the SEC. The writing is on the wall for College Football and the NCAA.

Florida has supported FSU being added to the SEC multiple times, and they were never given an invite until 1990 and then they turned it down. We have never tried to block their entry into the conference. Why would we? We play them in every sport already and it would probably make scheduling them easier.
They always spend more than they have and get bailed out by the government, so they are never going to go completely broke. They are our rival, not the dang devil. Lots of hotties at FSU also doesn't hurt imo.
