Friendly note to LSU fans coming this weekend about the MSC grass

I know how you guys love to give Aggies a rough time about walking on the grass. I remember when I was in school Tiger fans would run around on it intentionally just to be assholes or simply out of ignorance (more likely). I am just hoping that tradition can stop.
The MSC (Memorial Student Center) grass is forbidden for anyone to walk on and hats are asked to be removed when entering the building. This is because the building is first and foremost a memorial to Aggies that died in combat fighting for all of our freedoms. More specifically the MSC houses all 7 Congressional Medals of Honor that Aggies have been awarded, walking down the hall and reading the plaques of what those men did is a truly humbling experience. We ask that you not walk on the grass or wear hats in the building to honor those men, not just out of tradition. If you do not do so you can expect to be accosted because many, many Aggies look at doing so as the equivalent of going to Arlington and disrespecting the place or burning an American flag. My father is one of them, he served 3 Tours in Vietnam and had many of his classmates that never came home and he looks at the MSC as a memorial to them. I realize that may not make sense to you but that doesn't change the reality of it.
So feel free to make fun of Aggies for being weird or gay or whatever. Yell "Tiger Bait" at us if you like or take a picture by the 12th Man statue with a stuffed tiger eating E King Gill. Just please don't walk on the MSC grass because those men died for all of us. We can hate each other as fans of our teams but in the end we are all Americans.
Thanks for your consideration, now I'm off to find another JFF thread!

Also, don't forget to bring a clothes pin for your nose because the stadium smells like shite. They say it's because of bat guano.

I completely get this. I love this. But honestly what's with the grass? Is it part of the memorial?

Yes, its just the grass around the building. Everywhere else on campus you're free to graze.

Man that was brutal. Aggies are in denial about that dump they call a stadium.

Who gives a hot frick? Build them a house or a cave or something. There is bat shite all over the concession stands. I don't see how the place passes sanitary inspections.

Nah, we know it's a dump. Can't wait for renovations

Me either, I might go to more games then. The thing is I do know several people who actually think the renovations are bad. They also hope the bats are able to stick around. I mean come on people.
Edit: These are also people who said they would not be willing to pay any more in fees or donations for the renovations. Even I am willing to do that.

As do I. These fools must be trampled under the cloven hooves of progress.

The grass areas you can't walk on are actually very small and directly around the building. They also have signs on them asking you not to walk on them. 99% of campus is free to walk or graze on. Personally I wish they would just leave it to the "no hats" tradition but the MSC grass has always been considered sacred ground and that won't be changing.
I also apologize in advance for any overly excited Aggies that may yell at someone with a hat or on the grass unintentionally. Some Aggies take it a bit too far and lose their manners instead of asking nicely about it.
Agree on the bat guano as well. We need a new stadium and it's on its way. Bats can live under the bridge in Austin.

They are? I've never really seen anyone say that Kyle Field is in great shape. Parts of the stadium (lower level west side) date back to 1927, East side to 1929. The facilities etc for those parts is quite poor. If you were to remove some of the exterior facade, the east and west still look like this underneath. I tried finding the picture that shows the 'hidden bleachers' but so far this morning I've come up empty.
But, despite all of that, its a great venue to play in. Anyone would have to admit that as crappy as the product we've fielded for awhile has been, the 12th Man has always been there. Thankfully you can still have a great crowd atmosphere in a dump of a stadium.
