One of the most naturally gifted football players I've ever seen.

One of the worst parts of growing up is seeing guys you grew up watching on TV pass away.

Hate hearing these stories. 43 is still so young.

I was at the Snow Bowl. Crazy game. If Walker had been able to stay in shape, things may have gone a little differently for him. I don’t remember him returning punts as other poster mentioned, but my memory isn’t what it used to be as I have more years behind me than I do ahead.

That guy certainly had his demons, but he was a helluva talent. Helluva punt returner too. RIP

What was the name of that DB that was at MSU at the same time? Schmoot Schmack or something like that?

Sherrill had some colorful teams. That '99 team was one of the most blue collar SEC teams I can remember. I think they beat the sheep humping sister banging taterheads in the Peach Bowl that year?

Fred Smoot…
“70% of the earth is covered by water …. the other 30%, by Smoot”… LOL
He was hilarious. Told a Vandy WR, if he would do his homework for a semester, he would let him catch a pass…LOL

Dontae Walker was a great talent but I think he liked to party just a bit too much. Very sad that he is dead at 43. Was somewhat similar to another Walker but did not come close to his greatness.

That team had the best defense in the nation. Went 10-2 with close losses to Bama/Arky. If we would have had a better offense, that team could have won a NC. Alas, we scored just enough to win most of our games.

How did he pass? I feel like I saw he had gained a ton of weight and was pushing 4 bills. Was it heart related?

He was the no. 1 running back in his high school class and a couple of pundits had him the top overall player.

Had moments where he showed it but like someone else said he liked drugs and women too much.

Dontae Walker was the #1 recruit in the nation in the '99 class.
