Sad situation but I’m going to say it - cowardly on his part to run from the justice system by killing himself.

Prayers to the victims family and his family as well

Don't worry about the folks on here calling you out for telling the truth..It was as cowardly a way out of dealing with consequences as his running from the accident that killed a veteran was...His family is left to deal with the pain he got out of..I just went through this EXACT situation in my family. I can tell you firsthand that although he is done with his pain and legal issues, he just ruined dozens of lives for the REST of their lives on this Earth...his act solved only his own problems... It's never OK to put this type pain on your loved ones, especially your parents...EVER.

Cmon man. Take a break. Regardless of this guy’s character, it’s still a tragic story. Hopefully college athletes can learn something this. Same thing with Ruggs, Jontay Porter, etc etc. No matter what you have you can always frick things up.

RIP and condolences to his family.

Dude made a dumb mistake and it cost someones life , maybe he just thought that this was going to be the end of his too so he couldn't deal with it. Sad that he felt this way , he could have made up for his mistake by being an example of redemption for someone else in his situation.

Feel for his family and friends that are hurting, even though he played for a rival team that I always want to beat, off the field he has a family and a soul that I pray for.

Just awful. I hope everyone involved can find peace. Prayers to all the families affected by this horrible tragedy.

Rest in peace Kyren.

This is a result of NIL. Kids cannot handle all this money. They are giving all this money, fast cars, etc. At their age, they cannot handle this shite. NIL has killed college fb as we know it. NIL may have been a contributing factor in Kyren's death here. Someone, somehow has to step in and fix all this NIL shite!

Shut up. Sounds like he was mentally ill. If so, that explains a lot of erratic behavior on and off field.

While I understand the family anger in this situation...

How would you feel if some stranger came up to your family and started telling you and the rest of the family about how your relative was "a coward"?

Excuse me for questioning his character.

The kid ran from the cops after being involved in an accident that claimed a life, and you use a TD celebration to show how you judged his character?

Brilliant.

You mean like you’re judging Lacey?

Another brilliant take.

Watching my family go through this for the last few months I would never say that to somebody's face who just lost a loved one to suicide...I am not that hard a person.
But reading it on an anonymous message board after watching the unbearable pain and grief I have watched, and will watch for a very long while, I would probably have to agree wholeheartedly......

I don’t know what everyone else has read but what I read said the cops say his passing others caused an accident he wasn’t involved in. That’s a far cry from a hit and run.

This sounds like a tragedy all the way around. From the person who died in the wreck to this kid taking his own life. I’m not sure that he would have been convicted of what he was initially charged with. A lot of ways that the legal issues could have been sorted out but it never seems that way when you’re in the thick of it.

It never makes sense. Regardless of how his legal situation unfolded, he was going to have a long life to live after release. Wish he would’ve gotten therapy and went to the Lord with his burdens. RIP.

It’s says a lot about you that your first thought is jail time made him suicidal and not guilt of causing a life to be lost and the hate he received because of it.

I’d be curious to know how the victim’s family feels today. Was justice stolen from them? Was the fact he felt so much misery to do this a form of justice? Did he do this because his ego was so big he couldn’t bear the thought of having to live amongst normal people for 50+ yrs after prison? Or was it genuine remorse for killing someone?

What bothered me most following the accident was the seemingly zero accountability he was taking for even a partial role. I get that the lawyer’s job is to defend him. But there was no need to cause further pain to the victim’s family making constant pre-trial public comments insinuating that a completely innocent person died and it was somehow just an unfortunate accident that Lacy had no role in and didn’t even know had happened. Just say either nothing at all or something along the lines of prayers for those involved and you hope to gather all the facts through the legal process.
