Former Alabama football player Cole Harvey on Tuesday filed lawsuit over brain injuries suffered while part of the Crimson Tide program.
The University of Alabama has governmental immunity, so the suit names the NCAA and SEC because it "failed to adopt or implement adequate concussion management safety protocols or return to play guidelines," reads the suit filed in federal court.
Harvey, an offensive linemen/tight end never saw the field after grayshirting in 2005 and redshirting in 2006. He was not on the roster to begin spring practice 2007, the first year of Nick Saban's tenure.

I remember him. Lived in Rose Towers when I was there. He never played. Shula must have made him a tackling dummy.

Football players, at ALL levels, will soon be required to have a legal guardian/parent, or themselves if above 18, sign a waiver indicating they understand their risks and will not sue the agents of the game for which they are agreeing to play.
I guarantee you this is forthcoming, and this suit will expedite this new policies enactment.

Dude saw more practice and play time in HS, sounds to me like he needs to sue his high school.

Any resident lawyers know the difference between this suit and the one against nfl?

Prepare thine anus Bama. HBO special incoming when he loses the suit. "They paid me."

Not a lawyer. But former Alabama player Ray Hudson was part of a class action suit against the NCAA over concussions. But I remember him actually suffering from a couple. Cole Harvey never played. At all. Not sure how his individual suit has any grounds.

Are you drinking already?
How with this guy be able to prove that he didn't sustain these injuries in high school?

He should be proud of the concussion he earned at that fine institution.
