Damn, knew it would tough to get the decision in Brazil.

Anders had his opportunities to finish, but his inexperience showed. He just missed on a couple of strikes when Machida was retreating. His hands were down, but Anders couldn’t deliver the kill shot.

I'm sure the pricks will start yelling for him to get out of Alabama to train.

Anders has a bright future. Birmingham is fine.

True, but it looks like he is getting some pretty good training in B'ham.
I think Eryk won on points. I think the judges gave it to their home town boy.

CFB Playoff Committee would have definitely have Anders the win.
I’m being serious.
The eye test. If you saw that fight in your back yard as just a normal brawl, no doubt that it looked like Anders had the advantage.

Eryk lost the fight.
I don't mean that in a disparaging way.
He had an overwhelming advantage in age. He's creating his legacy while the guy he was fighting is goddamn 40 years old.
Now, Eryk knew the style of both fighters and he know where the fight was.
He either needed to counter better, respond to the kicks better(he ate em very well imo), or knock that guy out.
I never felt like he was in danger of getting knocked out. So I REALLY don't understand why Eryk didn't take that fight.

Not surprised. Bama defenses are soft.

So is Bo Jackson’s leg.

Yep, an older karate style legend taught him a lesson in points. Anders did too much stalking with his left and not enough actual striking, he landed very little early, mostly because he threw very little. Hopefully a learning lesson

Exactly, this guy is such a tool. I remember a while back he confessed to never having played a down of football, but was more of a "cheerleader" type in high school.

I watched Eryk in an amateur fight at Stcks n’ Stuff at an old mall in Tuscaloosa in 2013.
He got beat by a guy that had about 50 lbs on him, but he definitely “won” the war.
Cool following his story and seeing him make it all the way to UFC.

They held a fight at a 3rd rate cheap arse furniture store?
This is without a doubt the most bammer thing ever posted on Al Gore's internet.

It was the former long time location of the store, turned boxing/MMA facility.

Agreed, there was little to no doubt in my mind that Machida was getting that decision when the fight ended. I don't think the judges got it wrong either. 1-2 to Machida, 3-4 to Anders (3rd round was most dominant round of the fight, imo, but absolutely nowhere close to a 10-8 or anything), 5th to Machida. Anders fought well, and I bet he learned a lot last night. Would have liked to see him throw some jabs (not feints), be more aggressive when he hurt Machida, and especially work on his dirty boxing. For a guy with his size, strength, and ability to control the clinch, I felt like if he was working the dirty boxing in the clinch it would have made all the difference. Still, absolutely nothing to hang his head about. He fought an extremely crafty veteran in his backyard and came up just short. Hopefully he learns some lessons and comes back stronger.
I know a couple of people have already made fun of those who would suggest he needs to leave Birmingham to train elsewhere, and I don't know enough about his gym to say one way or the other. That said, I hope he is able to maximize his potential there, and if not, that he makes whatever changes are necessary. I'm a big OSP fan, and I think if he had moved to a different camp that he could have been better. If you've only heard of one guy from a gym it's pretty unlikely they are getting the world class training these guys at the big gyms are, and that's objectively a disadvantage.
