Of course. She wanted everything for herself and her new lover. He could give the children the strong male role model they were used to, after she killed their daddy, and she would have all his property, money and policy payouts.
With what she would have gotten, she could have likely supported 4 or 5 more lovers in the Bahamas.
If she was popular enough, she may have even been able to become the White Queen of The Junkanoo Festival.
