There is no way you can be that ignorant. Everyone knows there was a search committee but to say Jacobs, the AD, did not have to approve is just absurd. But I wont argue it with you. I have a feeling its of no use.

it's actually the President of the University that gives the go ahead on all hires.

ETA so what you are saying is that other people did the legwork and JJ just okayed it? If so, that isn't going out and finding coaches.

Jay retired and gets around $500,000 a year. (Yes he was forced out).

Wish Jay well, but below average as an AD. Will do fine as an ADD. Like many people he got promoted to his level of incompetence.

JJ made some good hires. He also made some horrifically bad hires. He also presided over an athletic department that saw scandals of some sort in every single department of significance. Football, baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball, etc. He was also responsible for us paying a shite load of money to the coaches run off for their indiscretions. The fact AU needed "hiring committees" because the BoT didn't have trust in him is also ridiculous. He was a good ole boy hand picked to replace Navid Nousel, and I'm glad to see that black cloud of AU finally gone.

Good riddance.

I don’t understand how hiring an associate AD could possibly be compared to hiring a head football coach. He has no power to hire anyone, he is just a guy in the department doing what he is told. Stricklin runs the show. I’m sure he was an underachiever as the head guy, that’s why we didn’t hire him as the head guy. Todd Grantham was probably a worse hire than this gopher boy.

Got us sued for fricking up firing him, and a track and field coach. Ran off the John Wooden of swimming. Softball scandal he lied about to cover his arse. fricked up how many buyouts? Assistant coaches being indicted in federal court.

If he is doing remedial work and serving coffee he will need the help of a committee to make sure he does it right just like he did in every facet of his job at Auburn. He's an absolute stooge and I'm embarrassed it took so long to run his arse off. Finally got a new President that cares about athletics and fired Jacobs in under a year, then a new AD cleaning house of all Jacobs people. Thank God

Like the $13 million TV you could watch the game on from fricking LaGrange? Which by the way has ruined the stadium and sucks the life out of the crowd because they're too busy watching it

You could be right and it may be the end of our football program, but I also think this could be no big deal and just a case of a guy looking for a fresh start. He has a good enough resume to be an associate AD imo, and if he turns out to suck at the 2 or 3 tasks at a time he’s given then his position is easily replaced.

Congrats!!! Have fun with the guy who has "no control". How much are you paying a guy that just grabs coffee? If you think he was hired without some sort of ear to your AD...okay dude..

Tell me how our baseball and football programs did this year. Jacobs isn’t as bad as most Auburn people make him out to be

I’m not sure why you’re angry about this, he’s gone let those angry feelings go. Stricklin can do what he wants ultimately he’s the one who has to answer for it if shite hits the fan.

Who's angry? This is a guy making $500k in retirement that didn't need a job, but you hired him anyway. He's the guy that presided over the football program that you accuse of paying Cam Newton to come to Auburn. He's the guy that presided over a basketball program that has the DOJ pursuing charges against an assistant coach. He's the guy that resigned because he covered for a coach fricking players. Now it's your turn to take up for him...Go Gata!

I mean you sound angry to me but whatever. I don’t think I’ve ever accused anyone of cheating but whatever you say on that one also. Im not sure what else your rambling was about but like I said Stricklin can hire who he wants, he is the one that has to answer for it. I’m not sure what else you want me to say. I’m sorry Jay turned your program into the worst Athletic Department in the SEC I guess? I would be lying but sure.
