Forget Auburn, Let's talk about Gus

Where do you see Gus going and having the most success?
Does he go to a Kansas and frick up there like Les Miles? I don't think anyone could win there. Maybe Saban but that is it.
Does he go to a Oklahoma St-like team and put a scare into Oklahoma or Texas?
Maybe go to some ACC team like Pitt or Wake Forest or hell, Georgia Tech and get within a few scores of a Clemson?
Or go off to the Sun Belt or AAC or maybe Mountain West and win a conference championship?
Unless he wants to coach at a low level SEC school (Arky, USCe, UK, Tenn.) which I don't think he does.
Where could he go in the next year or two and have some success?

I think he'd do well in a mid-major. I'd bet my life he will go and have some success on offense because he will go back to what he was doing in 2013 & 2014 and run an offense that works and not be worried what it looks like.

If he was smart, he would do this.
You are who you are. Embrace that shite and own it.

Somewhere along the line he got it in his head that he needed and offense that was more NFL ready. He quit recruiting the true DT guys and threw some shitty plays in there and thought that would work. Winning took a back seat to his image.

do what kiffin and sark did. Go to coaching rehab which is alabama assistant. Wait 2-3 years your stock will be soaring

This.
Somewhere some dumbass coined a phrase that would go on to become gospel but be shitty advice. " Work on your weakness's". frick that, Double and Triple down on what you're good at. And pay someone else to do the shite you suck at or don't want to.

Gus needs to go work for Saban. Learn that if you are not evolving, growing, learning then you are finished in this business.

Gus let the noise outside the football program cause him to change his offense. We needed to be more "balanced". I always said "frick that". Do what you know how to do.
He never should have changed. It was his undoing and I think he was just too bull headed to change back.
I like him but it was his own fault

His couch.

quote:He isn't wired that way. He loves scheming, breaking down plays, and the analytical side of offenses. He's a freaking nerd that has to stay busy working through things. I'd think any mid-level P-5 program would be happy to get him.

$21 million. I would buy 2000 acres of river bottomland and start a cattle ranch.

What exactly do you think Gus was doing in 2013 that he was not in 2019? It's the same shitty offense in 2013, the only difference was he had a decent OL not scouted by him.
Go watch the opening series of the 2013 Iron bowl and tell me what you see? Run up the middle, bubble screen, throw it deepon 3rd down.

Gus will pull a Chizik and spend his time doing work for the SEC Network.
Get paid millions and have a lush job that doesn’t demand much from you.

Next senator from Alabama, Tuberville decides he’d rather go duck hunting.

If I was him I'd just ride that 21 million off into the sunset. The time for his system is past, and he's not interested in changing

He was running the read option with an electric QB.
Our offense has been shitty, but it wasn't the same offense.
