I respect their decision. However I also think they should repay the school a certain % if they do not fulfill their contract (scholarship) terms. They signed up to play a sport, with their teammates, and to receive room, board and an education.
The athlete does have an obligation to their teammates to finish the terms as well, as it may adversely affect the draft stock of another player. You think Trask's stock went up or down yesterday?
So you are wrong.

Playing in a meaningless bowl game doesnt hurt anyone, it actually helps someone who may not have had much pt
Most of these guys are only at the schools they are at because they are good at football. Do you think Kadarius Toney is admitted to UF as a regular applicant?

Pssssttt.... If you post too often in your own troll thread it sort of gives it away. So I hear.

I joined the military when I turned 18. You and all these entitled players can kiss my arse for even remotely pretending like they are somehow done wrong.
You have no fricking clue what other people sacrifice in theirs lives for MUCH LESS.
They are lucky as hell and only ignorant people like you would say otherwise.
Mostly I guess you are just trolling, but stupid is as stupid does, so suck a dick dumbass.

Speak for yourself. It doesn't take a lot of skill to stock shelves.

Yes he does. He thinks people expecting other people to keep to what they signed up for are "snowflakes".
I can only imagine he's a shitty troll saying stupid things for a response.

Yep. Some of these guys can’t even put a complete sentence together, but they take class spots and student housing that other, less fortunate kids would love to have.

I don't blame these players for doing what they think is in their best interest. I also think there should be some reforms like allowing players to profit off their own likeness. However, they are making a commitment to the school and their teammates when they accept a scholarship, which comes with a number of benefits not accessible to the average student. Some portion of those benefits are funded by the fans and donors. They (and you) don't have to like it, but they need to be able to take the criticism that comes with quitting.
For what it's worth, I was a former student athlete at an SEC school. I had the same selfish view when I was younger, but a different perspective as I got older.

Where is the attitude coming from where you crap on your customer base? Fans that “care” about major bowls are the people wo support the sport; buy season tickets; go to away games and bowl games; contribute to the University and booster club; contribute $ for new facilities; watch the games on TV which generates revenue for the sport, etc.,

Tell me more about this sacrificing by signing up. Maybe I should go for another 20.

The opting out/sitting out issue, combined with thousands of dollars in free tuition will eventually have to be looked at.

Not true. Without fans these players are playing a kids game that would be the equivalent of lacrosse.

Just because your pathetic life revolves around young boys in tight pants running around chasing a another boy with the ball, doesnt mean your fetish should matter when it comes to their choices and careers.
You do understand there is a bit of a symbiotic relationship here, right? If no one is paying to watch, there is no money for players to earn.

They certainly don’t owe us anything. I’d like to think they have bonds with and obligations towards their teammates though and they are letting them down. That’s a poor reflection of character in my opinion
This is all great and dandy until a kid gets a severe injury and loses millions.
I don't see the teammates, coaches, university or fana ponying up to ensure he makes up his future losses.
