Gees, I wish all the dumb threads about being a 'blue blood' program would just cease and go away.

After winning the NC 2 seasons ago and the year before that, not one single time did me and my crowd stop the celebration and say; "Hey...everyone stop the celebration, we can't be getting excited, we are NOT a blue blood program!! Everyone go home!"

It's just silly....

I don't know any LSU fans who even claim to be a blue blood program

Not sure who got to OP

I will give LSU one thing, when they are good they make the most of it.

They only made the 4 team playoff one time in its ten year history and won a national championship that year.

Alabama made it eight times, playing in six championship games but only winning three.

Clemson made it six times, playing in four championship games but only winning two.

Ohio State made it five times, playing in two championship games but only winning one.

Georgia made it three times and played in the championship every time, winning two.

Michigan made it three times, playing in only one championship games but winning it.

Oklahoma made the playoffs 4 times and never made a championship game.

Washington made it twice and played in one championship game, losing it.

Even Brian Kelly took Notre Dame to the playoffs twice but never won a game.

There are seven teams that made it one time. But LSU is the only one to actually win the championship game in only one trip.

LSU has not been very good the last ten years, but that one year they were unstoppable.

Ncaa.com lists Alabama with 15, Oklahoma with 7, and only 1 since 1985. Not sure that qualifies for blue blood anymore.

Wow. So 6 of Oklahoma’s 7 titles were between 1950 and 1985, and the 7th, which was the last one was 2000. Yeah, I think we’re going to have to vacate the blue blood status

Wow, you should refrain from discussing anything football as you have no clue.

Hell, Florida, UGA, and LSU all have 3 since 1985 and Oklahoma has 1, and they aren’t blue blood.

Sorry. OU status revoked.

Naw. Coaches > media. You can always do separate categories like consensus and then split.

1999-2013 BCS champion was the National Champion. 2014-2023 CFP champion was the National Champion.

This is the way.

Meh. LSU is blue collar, not blue blood.

Michigan might have blue blood, but they also have that yellow streak for chickening out of ever playing LSU.

Might need to put an asterisks. Fun fact: did you know Bama’s AD in the 70s/80s, I believe Ray Perkins retroactively claimed titles from decades ago? Yep. Only Bama lol.

Fun fact: did you know if you go by the same list that gives Iowa 5 national titles and Michigan the number of titles listed in the OP (you know...apples to apples comparison) then Alabama actually has 24 national titles instead of the 18 listed. It's funny how Alabama seems to be the only school that gets ridiculed for claiming even a single non-AP national title when all 5 of the titles listed for Iowa in the OP for example are non-AP national titles.

True,

However...

It is important to note though that all four of LSU's national championships....

They played the final game in New Orleans....

That certainly helped them.

They certainly didn't need to be in New Orleans to score 63 points on Oklahoma on their way to the 2019 title.

Three of the four technically. The 1958 title was won before the bowl win. The Sugar Bowl victory was just the cherry on top.
