Total Offense - Yards Per Game Rank:

2009 - 6 - Meyer - Tebow's last season
2010 - 83 - Meyer
2011 - 105 - Muschamp
2012 - 104 - Muschamp
2013 - 115 - Muschamp
2014 - 96 - Muschamp
2015 - 112 - McElwain
2016 - 116 - McElwain
2017 - 110 - McElwain
2018 - 67 - Mullen

So while it isn't lighting the world on fire, it is a marked improvement.

McElwain came over as an offense guy right? What do you think happened? Lack of good QB play or poor recruiting of offensive specialists?

8 years of a Florida offense hovering around 100. That’s wild to see it ranked like that considering all the talent in that state.

My God yalls offenses were worse than I thought. Mullen is a good offensive mind with experience so you'll do just fine. He's already improved it after one season.

Switching OCs every year didn’t help either.

Bunch of factors. It was a complex offense that required a dominant oline to be effective. Which we did not have. Required a qb that absolutely had to go through progressions to be successful. Grier could do it and scramble when oline protection broke down, then got busted. Del Rio could do it but got injured because we had no line because he was a statue in the pocket. Appleby could halfway do it and actually had a little mobility but got rattled when blitzed and defenses learned zone coverages confused him. Franks was a true freshman that should of been a 2 reads and run kinda guy but Nuss and Mac refused to simplify the offense for him. If you watch Franks high school film, he had really no qb coaching at all. The offense he ran in high school was pretty much deep corners, post, and verticals with a 20 yard out route underneath. His coaches made a living out of throwing deep and exploiting his arm strength.

Strength and conditioning staff sucked royal arse as well. Players were going to local gyms off campus because they thought they would get better training. Coach Savage is one of the biggest reasons our offense can move the ball this year.

Everyone always talks about LSU's offensive woes lately but seems like they overlook UF who has arguably been worse. Both teams just missing a decent offense the past few years.

Let’s also not forget that Meyer shite the bed his last year. It’s no coincidence that he had “health problems” that year. He knew he made a mistake when he recruited video game type players that couldn’t beat Bama.

Even if Meyer had stayed, we would have been bad. Boom was too green to take such a big job. Mac was a clown.

I wish Mullen would leave the SEC. As much as people on here love to clown on teams for losing to O, Mullen and Saban are the only 2 current SEC head coaches with a win over him and theyre both 2-0. It looks like Mullen has Arandas number as well.

More impressively, UF is averaging 6.23 yards per play, which is tied for 34th. That means a lot more than total offense because UF has a lot of short fields.

The offense is in a different universe than the past few years.

Savage and Heve have made a huge difference in our Oline as well. First time we've seen real, measured progression on our line in years.

Muschamp failed because he couldn't recruit hardly any NFL-caliber skill players on offense or develop a QB.

Mac failed because his S&C program was a joke, he hired Nussmeier to call plays, and also couldn't develop a QB. He chased off the one QB that could have extended his stay here.

Muschamp missed on so many offensive skill position recruits. Just kept losing them on signing day.

Not shitposting Florida...

Was Tebow and Co. graduating/leaving early the reason for such a massive drop off, or were there other factors involved? I try to forget the 2010 football season as much as possible so I can't recall what occurred.

John Brantley couldn’t run Urban’s offense. That year we had to rotate future NFL tight ends Jordan Reed and Trey Burton in and out for Brantley to run the option plays.
