re: PFF QB Stats - Under Pressure, Kept Clean, Adjusted Completion %, etc

This quote in the comments: “As to "why?" - Could it be as simple as LBs and SSs simply cannot help themselves?”
Against Florida, LBs and safeties should try to help themselves and ignore play-action. For two years now, we have been unable to run the ball consistently and are 19-3 in that span because passing.

quote:
Under Pressure - NFL QB Rating (min 150 dropbacks)
1. Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma) (119.8)
2. Kyle Trask (Florida) (118.8)
Hopefully this helps dispel the myth that Trask can’t handle pressure. It is and has always been the complete opposite. Don’t confuse him for Feleipe Franks.

Play Action - NFL QB Rating (min 25 dropbacks)
1. Justin Fields (Ohio State) (150.3)
2. Mac Jones (Alabama) (149.1)
3. Tyler Shough (Oregon) (139.2)
4. Hendon Hooker (Va Tech) (139.0)
5. Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) (135.6)
10. Kyle Trask (Florida) (131.4)
Surprised Trask is this high considering our play action game should scare absolutely no one. “Oh noz Florida is running the ball” lol who cares.

No Play Action - NFL QB Rating (min 25 dropbacks)
1. Kyle Trask (Florida) (140.5)
2. Mac Jones (Alabama) (135.5)
The truth. Both great QBs aided greatly by cheat codes named Kyle Pitts and DeVonta Smith.

Thing is, you’re right about us being one dimensional. But no one can stop it. Why?
re: It’s LSU vs Florida week

Run game has gotten worse every week actually. Last night Mullen said frick it and completely stopped trying to run.
Crazy how much offense and defense has changed in the last 5-6 years. That approach would almost never work back then, but Mullen’s been making it work at Florida the last two years basically.

To keep you awake at night obviously
re: Fla 25.5 point favorite against KY.. over/under 60
Posted by TheGators on 11/28/20 at 4:57 am
It’s 11am kick at home. Kentucky will find a way to score in the 20s against this defense, even if it’s as a result of Mullen experimenting on offense.
UK should try to bleed clock. They may be able to depending on who is out with covid for them.
I see us getting at least 40-42 points, especially after the lackluster performance in Nashville last week.

If Davis hadn’t fumbled, we likely close out the game. But if A&M didn’t fumble before that, we were likely not in that position to begin with. So yeah I agree the fluke argument doesn’t work.
It took Jimbo two and a half quarters to figure us out but once he did, it was over. A&M was beating us at the line of scrimmage most of the game.

re: By the numbers: Mac Jones vs. Kyle Trask
Posted by TheGators on 11/17/20 at 10:51 am
Their numbers are a reflection of the offenses they play in and the skill players around them.
Jones: doesn’t have as many passing TDs because Alabama has a superior red zone running game and they don’t have a red zone cheat code like Kyle Pitts. He has more yards per attempt because Alabama has/had perimeter burners like Smith and Waddle.
Trask: Florida doesn’t have the perimeter speed of Alabama, which sounds weird to say but it’s true. Toney is elusive as they come but if he and healthy Waddle were to race, it would be over almost immediately. Instead we have a bunch of big, tall receivers with enormous catch radiuses like Pitts (6’6), Grimes (6’5), Shorter (6’5), Henderson (6’3), etc. That’s part of why he doesn’t have the YPA of Jones.
They’re both playing at a very high level. I’d take Trask because 1) I’m a fricking homer and 2) Trask is just a gamer. He’s been effective playing from behind and with a lead. He usually plays his best in big games (LSU last year, Georgia/A&M this year, and has done all of it the last two years with a horrible (2019) and average (2020) running game.

Nope, don't think so. It's still a LOS game and Alabama is going to get push all game. Florida, not so much. Bama is the most balanced offense the Gators will see this year. They will push the Gators all over the field when they want and we will want. The play-action will then speak for itself. That's not a recipe for a shootout.
Lot of delusion in this post.
re: Who is the worst coach in the SEC?
Posted by TheGators on 11/9/20 at 5:58 pm
I used to watch/listen to Muschamp’s Monday and postgame press conferences when he was at Florida. He seems like a cerebral, genuine guy who knows football, but he just can’t get results. His biggest problem I think is in almost ten years now as an SEC head coach he has yet to find a QB.

Yeah we got whipped pretty good in ‘16. ‘15 was never in doubt but much more tolerable to watch.
Our QBs in those games were Treon Harris and Austin Appleby. This would be a little bit different.

Mine is kind of a weird one because it is a game we lost. In 96 and 97 I was deployed and our mail got xrayed so nobody could send us video tapes. So my Dad went to all the games and wrote down every play and would send me the notebooks. In 97 we played Florida in Jordan-Hare and one of the guys sitting near Dad asked him what he was doing. He was like, "We always see you writing everything down." and Dad explained it was for his son overseas in the army. So the guy asked if he could write the next play. He did and put a little note on it wishing me well. That notebook got passed around the whole section and each play was written by a different person with a note. I think some of the people were even Florida fans. When you're deployed you feel like the whole world has forgotten about you and I can't put into words what it felt like to receive that notebook.
I need a bigger upvote button.
re: Kyle Trask- is this a heisman game?

When you look at who his competition is, Florida pretty much has to win this game for him to stay in the conversation. He could have a huge game and it wouldn’t matter if we lost.

re: Dan Mullen vs UGA/Smart: 3 Games, 3 season lows in yards, and 2 season lows in points
Posted by TheGators on 11/4/20 at 1:13 pm
A lot of our low offensive production last year can be credited to Georgia’s offense as much as their defense. We couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down (sounds familiar) and our offense never found a good rhythm until it was too late.
We have the QB and the skill players to move the ball on any defense and Georgia is no exception. But if Georgia ends up dominating 3rd downs offensively and we can’t get to 60 plays on offense, that would be par for the course for us this season.

re: Florida player takes shot at UGA

He said “it’s personal.” Isn’t it personal between UF and UGA every year anyway?
I don’t see the harm in “can’t wait to get the W.” That’s way different from “we’re gonna kick their arse,” or “they don’t stand a chance.” Obviously he thinks we’re gonna win. I’d be disturbed if he didn’t go into a game thinking that.
I’m more bothered he said anything about Georgia with a game against someone else coming up on Saturday.

re: How does Trask approach the A&M game?
Posted by TheGators on 10/7/20 at 1:20 pm
In seven career games away from the Swamp, Trask is:
151/234 for 1896 yards and 18 TDs with 3 interceptions
I think all of those games were against better secondaries than the one he'll see Saturday. I'm one of a few Florida fans worried about this game but Trask is not the reason why.

I don’t know who’s gonna win but I know we’re gonna a score a lot of points. More than 31.
