Im not saying they were national champs,
I will, per some publications the 1984 Gators were National Champions and have more credibility to claim it than some Alabama championships that they claim. They were also SEC Champs in 1984. A deal was reached between UF and the NCAA only to be undercut by some SEC Presidents.
The 1985 Gators also had the best record in the SEC but can't claim a title because they knew going into the season that they were on probation.

If our admin had any balls they would claim the nattys in 84 and 85. We have more of a claim that most of Bamas titles

On May 30, 1985, the presidents of the ten SEC-member universities voted 6–4 to vacate the Gators' 1984 SEC title
we can probably put Alabama Auburn Georgia Tennessee LSU as 5 of the 6 ...I imagine Kentucky might could have been the 6th - the Mississippis & Vanderbilt joining UF in the other camp -

Per the Orlando Sentinel who quoted 2 unnamed sources, Auburn, Alabama and State voted with UF. Tennessee, Vandy, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss and LSU voted against.

screen shot worked

that 84 team was the best in the country -
eta - not a Gamecock around that isn't partial to the special season we had in Cola in 84 - but talent and overall team UF was loaded -

The 84 Gators were a machine. Too bad Charlie Pell had them on probation for 100 violations. National Championship worthy

It was 67, but who's counting.

All of which were less than what Tenn et al were openly getting away with at the time.

2003 LSU lost in Death Valley to UF coached by Ron Zook with a true freshman QB.

Great team, but not national champions. Won the SEC but also not SEC champs, because rules.

Saturday is the day to add them to the facade on the stadium.
1984 SEC Champions
1984 National Champions
1984 SEC Champions

They change the rules all the time. We are going to get the SEC title back. frick the natty, BYU can have it. They beat a 6-6 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl.

1984 was a weird year in college football, BYU was undefeated against an insanely weak schedule and struggled to beat a mediocre Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl, Florida did what they did but sanctions prevented them from doing more, and WASHINGTON probably should've gotten a split title after convincingly knocking off Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.

Alabama Auburn Miss St and Florida voted for them to keep the title.

If you need a lesson on why you are stupid and don't understand how National Championships were awarded and when in the past, let me know.
Contrary to what LSU fans believe, college football didn't start in the year 2000.
