This isn’t a shot at Florida, but ND is a much better job. It’s a ridiculously easy path to the playoff every year, vs the gauntlet of the sec
He is spot on. He has a much easier path to the playoff and is loved on campus around town. Only job I could see him leaving for is Ohio State.

Aside from an easier path to the playoff, I can’t think of a single metric in which this would be true.
One metric I can think of is you can have two losses and still be ranked #12

His buyout very much means it is not going to happen at all. Plus if he is Catholic, it is probably a dream job.

Yeah. No shite.
ND is about as college football royalty as one can get. (There are a few others, and it ain’t Florida)

I truly think few coaches care that much about this kind of stuff.
In fact historically it's probably better to leave while you're ahead then become the next Ty Willingham or Gerry Faust

For what it’s worth a couple Florida beat writers have essentially called this Anand Nanduri guy out as making shite up.
However, one of them did mention that the number of candidates trimmed from 5 to 4 and people stopped talking about Freeman. But it had also been said that it was 1A Kiffin 1B Freeman. So maybe Freeman did shut down inquiry, but it doesn’t necessarily mean he topped the list.

That makes sense. I don't know how Freeman could be your top choice with such little experience as a head coach compared to Kiffin

Lanning
Freeman
Kiffin
Riley
This is the order so far. Top 2 were quick no's. 3 has lingered but I think it's gonna wrap up soon.

Sure…. But still.
I think Freeman can (and more importantly, I think he thinks he can) do more at Notre Dame.

We lacked in facilities for a long time. Guess coaches did not protest it enough honestly.

UF is running everything through TurnKeyZRG which is a top search firm in the college athletics space (even though their name sounds like they are a knock off AirBnB).
Since they are running the search through a firm, and not having Scott zero in on one candidate from the jump this time like he did with Billy, there really isn’t a top candidate at this moment.
I know many fans/boosters want Lane, but even he’s not the top candidate for our search committee at the time because the typical search firm/committee hasn’t zero’d in on one candidate in 3 days unless they are running on a very compressed timeframe which we aren’t.
What TurnKeyZRG is doing right now is putting out feelers to coaches agents, seeing if there is any interest at all, and if there is a level of interest from that coach, looking at things like buyouts or other contractual items that would make the hire more difficult.
While coaches like Lanning and Freeman are long shots, TurnKeyZRG wouldn’t be doing its job if it wasn’t gauging interest from them. Most likely Lanning was a straight no and Freeman was a combination of not being very interested along with a high buyout.
Once a longer list of coaches has been figured out along with their interest level, a short list will be created and there will be informal negotiations on contract terms with agents as well as interviews getting set up. That short list of candidates is when a “top choice” has really been identified.
I know this is kind of a cop out because opposing fans want to crap on schools for not getting their “top choice,” but in true coaching searches, there just isn’t a top choice at this point.

How about just getting Freeman to play the part? It may work out fine.

Nothing wrong with kicking the tires, I'm not mad he said no and I get it. Dude will walk into the playoffs every yr at ND.
Now call Brohm and make him say no.
