SP+ Rankings:

Overall:

Florida - 11
South Carolina - 31

Offense:

Florida - 24
South Carolina - 74

Defense:

Florida - 16
South Carolina - 15

Special Teams:

Florida - 12
South Carolina - 23

Very glad this is a noon game as opposed to a night game. I think a lot depends on the status of Hilinski, Greenard, and Zuniga.

I think UF may try to spread the Gamecock defense out with 4 and 5 WR sets with Pitts lined up out wide rather than running right into the middle of the Gamecocks DL. Bama had a lot of success doing that, and while the UF WRs aren't quite on the level of Jeudy, Waddle, Smith, and Ruggs, they are still very good. I could also see a lot of quick game due to the strength of the Gamecocks DL, and a lot of the passes that UF did against Auburn to get the ball out of Trask's hands quickly.

I don't think the UF DBs will play as bad as they did against LSU, but I think if Hilinski is healthy and can go, the Cocks will be able to put up points.

Edwards and Dowdle are two excellent skills players and if UF doesn't account for those two well enough, this could be a very high scoring game.

My prediction is that it will be close for a while, possibly tied at halftime, but UF will make enough plays to pull away in the 4th Q.

Something like:

UF - 27
South Carolina - 17

Good stuff - I'm very curious to see how both teams come out after their games last week and with an early kick.

Really interesting game that is huge for both teams.

He leads the nation in catches at TE and he is virtually uncoverable if you line him up as a WR.

Double him and you get a 1on1 matchup with Swain or Jefferson, and they're good enough to win those.

Yep, if South Carolina pulls off another upset this week, the East gets turned upside down.

I believe it. That's why I think, in my great and unmatched football wisdom, that he belongs in the slot. He could murder teams on crossing routes.

A couple other stats to note:

Gamecocks are 98th in the country in opponents pass yards per game, albeit a ton of that is due to the Bama game.

Their OL is also 74th in sack rate.

whew ...good thing we didn't allow a sack to Georgia last game or our ranking would really be bad.

I guess the good news is only 7 of Flordia's 26 sacks have come in 4 league games. surprised UF didn't record any against LSU.

Gamecock pass rush managed to get 3 sacks on Fromm - the only SEC team to date to do that. maybe USC can get through the UF OL that's allowed 9 sacks in 4 league games.

You're thinking like me 1801 ..... obviously.

All these stats have me terrified and wondering why we're even going to play the game? Tanner should call and forfeit while we still have a chance, before UF and Mullen embarrasses us by running out on our field and shoving those stats up our ponderosas.

Reports out of practice in Columbia today indicate that Hilinski was intentionally limited in practice today, but moved well and "looked ready to go".

If hes moving well and Zuniga and Greenard are out, I see another 35-31-ish type of game like last year.

Just preliminary reports post practice. We'll know more after Muschamp's presser at 1:00 pm EDT.

Bummed about this.

While a logistical nightmare, games during the State Fair are fun at night.

I can't envision Florida having any trouble with South Carolina. South Carolina really gets up for the game with Georgia, even more so than their game with Clemson, imo. Georgia played terribly and South Carolina won. They won't put up much fight against Florida, even at home.

I would take Florida and lay the points, if I were a betting man.

This is going to be a tough game for Florida IMO.

Coming off a loss, noon kick off, against a team that just knocked off Georgia with decent line play.

UF looked vulnerable on both LOS against LSU. We knew about the OL issues, but it looks like the DL is regressing, especially without Greenard OR Zuniga.

I could see South Carolina rushing for over 200 yards and keeping this close throughout, especially if they can get to Trask like Auburn did and force UF into some turnovers.

I just don't know what to expect from Florida's defense after the LSU game. I mean, they aren't as good as we thought, but I don't know if they are as bad as they showed in that game either. I assume they will force more than 4 third-downs against South Carolina, but I don't know what to expect now and USC has some decent WR that can hurt Florida if they are wide fricking open all game lol.

I think this is high scoring. Like last year. 35-28 or something.

well I guess USC's 3-1 record over UF at Williams-Brice since Urban 'retired' as gator coach happened with the Gamecocks just not trying hard.
