Someone went in depth with the legal standings on this in a thread a while back and mentioned something about antitrust laws and should it go to court the NCAA would have a slim chance of winning.
That shite is way over my head so hell if I know the semantics of it.

This isn't going to end a multibillion dollar industry. You're all a bunch of chicken littles.
Most you are just sad that you'll have to pay money to sniff a jock.

You are absolutely correct.
Funny, though.
They dont have a constitutional right to be a professional and an amateur at the same time.
Since employers pay people money, the NFL should be in the crosshairs. They have rules in place that disallow 19 year olds from enjoying that constitutional right.
Colleges arent preventing kids from making money. They are just keeping the professionals out of an amateur sport.
No different than keeping out 35 year old college students from their 17th year of eligibility

They let Hunter Renfrow do it.

Hunter renfrow played college football for 17 years?
Damn.
Damn.

May have been 18. It sure as hell seemed like it.

Renfrow is a great example.
He wanted to get paid out of high school. And an employer paid him. Not a college athletics program. Economic markets worked.
The problem is with football employers who do not offer opportunities to kids out of school. They have collectively bargained as an association of owners to discriminate against those kids.
Of course.... politicians are too stupid to ever do anything productive.

All these big states are clearly afraid of what Joe Moorhead is doing at Mississippi State.
It is only a matter of time USM, MsState, and OM are going to consolidate so we can compete. We will be called the Mississippi bull landsharkian eagledogs.

California has opened the can of worms. Bad for college athletics.

quote:This is more like a true scenario. A law of this nature would not only affect cfb, but ALL college sports. The NCAA has no choice but to stand their ground or college amateurism will die...and the NCAA along with it.
or, "we" will remain in the NCAA and all schools supporting the new law that violates NCAA regulations form a new league.
The latter likely runs counter to many desired student athlete ideals and values, and several institutions opt out as it is hard enough to fake a true student-athlete model as it is
Imo, the good news will be that the courts, along with public opinion, won't consider this an antitrust issue and reject it, leaving the NCAA to prevail. If that happens, schools will all fall back in line.

I hope they enjoy playing in the California-Florida League. TV deals going to sign up to broadcast just UF-Miami-FSU-USC every game?

It would kill college football! Only the rich colleges would have a chance to play for the NC!!! U might know this shite was brought by a gay California Mayer!!! It would kill football!

Wait til Players start demanding bonuses for TDs or sacks. Imagine when your star player sits out because he isnt earning enough or believe he deserves top pay.
How about the under recruited player that doenst make shite then studs out.
This is Pandora's box and those fools happy to see athletes paid are the same ones that will be regretting their shortsightedness

They can pass every bill they want, until the NCAA changes it's rule then it's all moot.

Better enjoy college football while we can. The game as we knew and loved it growing up is going away

There is a difference between getting paid a salary and making money off of someone putting you in a TV commercial or a video game.
