Soft, but understandable.

It must truly suck to play for a team that has ideas of grandeur but can't seem to get out of its own way. Florida has a lot of players other teams would covet (and steal in a heartbeat if they could), but they're just not positioned or coached well enough to win.

It's one thing to play for a team like Kent State, where you don't expect to beat good (or even mediocre) teams. But I'll bet not a single player recruited to play for the Gators thought "well, they suck but I'll get a 4-year free ride scholly out of it".

Don't get me wrong: I despise the gators, moreso since the great Hurricane that Wasn't. But that doesn't mean I can't understand why their team might be half-hearted about the rest of their season.

Speculation with no proven history

Yeah I am sure that you are really sad about this and really don't believe it anyway. You are just scared that your coach may consider leaving for UF.

Scared? Boo, the big bad Gators might offer your coach a job.

Great coaches are always the subject for better jobs, some fans will always talk shite to deny and demean the other job, welcome to the club.

MSU fans did this in 2017, Gator fans in 2011, happens all the time. Coaches will do what they want to do, fans from one side or the other will bitch about the choice.

Exactly, you'd expect more from young men. My daughter plays select softball; she was on a crap team this spring with what ended up being kinda an a-hole coach. Would've been easy to walk away but we talked about finishing what you start and she stuck it out. She's 12 and a lot tougher than some of these entitled players only wanting the easy path.

Sad, but true. I remember all the angst and furious gnashing of teeth when Herbie made his famous "Les to Michigan" prognostication. That didn't happen, but that doesn't mean it wasn't in the works and then got derailed.

I also remember the outrage when it was hinted that Chavis was going to leave LSU for 8-4, only to have it actually happen a few weeks later after the bowl game. Now, don't hold me to the position that Chavis was a "great" coach, but at the time he was the best defensive coach we'd had in a while.

So, yeah, it happens.

And fun fact: This has been going on for DECADES! My LSU brethren love to hate on Saban for leaving LSU and ending up as the Gump Goblin King (myself included). But you know who did it first? LSU!

Look up Mike Donahue at Auburn. (Wikipedia link: LINK )

quote:

In 18 seasons coaching football at Auburn, Donahue amassed a record of 106–35–5 and had three squads go undefeated with four more suffering only one loss. His .743 career winning percentage is the second highest in Auburn history, surpassing notable coaches such as John Heisman and Ralph "Shug" Jordan. Donahue Drive in Auburn, Alabama, on which Jordan–Hare Stadium is located and the Tiger Walk takes place, is named in his honor,

You have to walk past a big bronze statue of Iron Mike at JH stadium, and he's also in the College Football HOF for his time at Auburn. And you know who stole him away from Auburn at the height of his career? LSU. (Full disclosure, he's also my great-grandfather LOL).

Auburn was less than pleased about the situation, and from the way my family tells it there was a lot of insinuation that Huey Long demanded that LSU hire him away, regardless of the cost. So, yeah, "stealing" coaches is as old as time itself.

Just a passing thought that might be interesting to some folks....

This won't help them at portal/NFL draft time as the case may be. But I don't blame them really.

Tennessee has beaten Alabama in Bryant Denny 3 times. In those games, Tennessee won by 14, 11 and 8.

Games were previously played at Legion Field. If you want to count those, then there was a 27 point win in 1995 and 17 point win in 97. Those might have had some people leaving earlier.

So, you can't count higher than 2?

The "UF is so soft because of the hurricane thing" will never make sense considering how that ended up for LSU

Is quitting a way of life amongst CFB players in Florida?

There is never a good time not to make fun of Florida because frick Florida.

But, I believe we will see more of the Florida type fall off the map scenarios among super conference powers in the coming years. More so with teams who rely overly heavy on portal turnover, but even among teams who get decimated by NFL departures. The majority may not be to the level of out and out fall down a well like Florida and FSU, but more of the losing of the locker room for a season thing.

However, a few players apparently liked some social medial posts calling for Napier to be fired.

Assuming that happened, Napier should kick them off the team.

I can see why the players are hurting. You still have to be a man though and play your best

If it's not going to be an issue for the next guy, why is it an issue for the current guy?

Maybe you should count again? In the last 3 years they have beaten Tennessee twice, and in the last 20 years they have beaten Tennessee 17 times.

Here you go:
LINK

If you can find something that says Tennessee has beaten Florida 2 out of the last 3 years, then I will certainly take a look at it. But I don't think you will.

ETA
I'll go one step further. It's more regular than Tennessee has beaten Vanderbilt. That sits at 12-6 in the last 20 years with 2 games vacated by Tennessee for cheating.

Florida’s program will be terrible with their next coach as well. The whole culture is broken. Florida is full of soft, entitled, undisciplined pussies that cancel school and football for 20mph winds and throw shoes 20 yards down the field.

It would take Napier 10 years to turn that program around.

You need to worry about Brian Kelly to get the team to stay in the top 25 by the end of the year.
