Yet Florida failed to get to 9 wins a season. Same for FSU.

The geezer crowd is downvoting this.

Newsflash- teams can’t horde talent anymore. So if Florida has every single good player….they are leaving now to go elsewhere to both play and make money instead of waiting for their opportunity.

Muh “fertile recruiting grounds” and “history” don’t matter in our NIL landscape.

I’ll give you geography in this case. Mizzou isn’t backed up to the gulf. But hey if you are coaching your arse off 24/7 and making millions, you can afford trips when you aren’t working. So what are you really missing?

Welcome to 2025.

It's a simple concept, but apparently hard to grasp. No Mizzou or Ole Miss fan here is arguing that they are equal to Florida historically. If this discussion was happening prior to NIL / Portal, I would be wondering when, not if, the announcement of Drink to Florida or Penn State would occur.

There are also weirdly a couple Tennessee fans in here defending Florida's honor. They also probably hate that they couldn't put it together for the last 20 years of the golden age of blue bloods.

It is not currently a better job but the ceiling at a place like Florida is clearly higher than @ Mizz or OM

If you look at the history of Florida, Spurrier and Meyer were very successful there. Not many other coaches have done a lot while having that job.

They have now gone through four coaches since Meyer closed out his Florida career. Did these four coaches all of a sudden forget how to coach football? Florida has always had talent. Lack of talent is not the issue. Back in the olden days there was a lot of meddling by boosters, think of Auburn now.

Florida fans tell us what you think the issue is concerning the Florida coaching job.

Not even top 20 in the country.

They may be "stacked" in comparison to their own history, but not in relation to actual elite talent.

The past is the past. As we sit today, MO & Ole Miss are significantly better. FL has upside but that’s it. Has to be tapped. Hasn’t been since Urban.

This was the end of the discussion before NIL and the Portal. But now Mizzou and Ole Miss are stacked with talent as well. And both programs have fans who are willing to shell out cash to bring talent to Oxford and Columbia. Mizzou has its most talented team by composite in its history - and yes - credit to Drink, but the bigger factor is a potent NIL spend. High school recruiting grounds simply don’t matter as much as they used to in terms of assessing potential roster strength.

Keep hearing how it’s already been accomplished by non traditional power schools — but wait — the national champions during the NIL era have been Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan lmao.

College football landscape is 100% different than it was even 5 years ago, much less 10-15+ years ago

Didn't read because the title's so ridiculous. Florida is 10x better than the other two.

Florida is a dumpster fire and has been for awhile, yet still is #12 on the team talent composite.

Mizzou and Ole Miss are having some of their best years ever and haven't even cracked the top 20.

Florida had 3 NCs in the past 30 years. I hate them but they are absolutely a better a job and only a fool would not think so.

Yeah, Nebraska used to think the same thing and here we are.

My point is those 3 NC's you reference don't mean sheet. You act as if for every NC a team has in the past they get an extra TD to start the game or something?

There’s only so many P5 jobs out there so I don’t think it’s anything to sneeze at either though

Is Florida a better job than OM and Mizzou....yes. However the gap is much closer thanks to NIL and the portal. Job security is also much lower at Florida and they would have to start over.

Ole Miss and Mizzou will never take championship level football seriously. Florida has before and can again.

Paying Drink over $9 MILION per year isn't serious enough for you?

you realize how stupid you sound now?

Be careful UcheaT fan........UT is fading fast as a has been just like Nebraska!

Another couple crappy seasons and no more preseason over ranking like the past decade. Maybe UcheaT doesn't take football serious enough?

Yes and that was when FL cheated. Now with NIL everyone gets to cheat out in the open.

So, GAME ON MF's!!!

Back in the olden days?

Exactly which days are these?

If you are talking about the 80's, the boosters were only meddling because the coaches wanted them to do so.
