UGA winning the WLOCP and Florida winning the East anyway is a possibility that's being ignored here

What are you talking about? The OP even asks the question, "If Georgia was playing Arkansas and not Alabama, would this still be the prevailing thought?"

and paperwasp asked the quesiton:

I guess folks are assuming that the talent gap is narrow enough, Georgia plays Alabama, and Mullen is the better coach?

No one is ignoring that.

Georgia has a big QB advantage. Although the new offense is a question mark it can't be worse than last year's.

I think it's very critical he beats UGA. At some point he will need to get to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game. Otherwise he has done a fantastic job.

Vegas says Georgia, and they get paid to be right.

Magazines can say whatever they want.

Sorry, missed that post, but people keep talking about Athlon giving UGA the positional advantages and picking UF anyway, for which I'd guess scheduling is the main reason

UGA and UF are clearly better than everyone else in the East but UF has a much more favorable schedule this season. I wouldn't get too offended by people picking UF to win the division considering.

Vegas gets paid to put the odds where people are most likely to bet, not to be right

Maybe the magazines have taken into account the fact the Uga as a whole. Is a underachieving shitshow that hasn't won a natty since 1980.

Even if that’s not true, it was also not true in 2019, and it still wasn’t enough for Mullen to beat uga.

Well it’s not a maybe it’s a fact the magazine is talking about the conference, not the national title so lets try to focus on the subject matter buddy. Just simple reading. Left to right. Up and down.

Also a factor might be that Urban Meyer and Steve Spurriur aren’t walking through that door and Mullen is 2-33 against teams that finish with 3 losses or less in his career and has never won a division let alone a conference in a decade of being a head coach in this particular conference.

And that’s on Mullen. That loss last year is FIRMLY on Mullen and 11-2 doesn’t change that.

I’ve been consistent about my thoughts on that game ever since that loss.

This is only an advantage if the QB is above average.

You seriously have red and black blinders on if you think Trask is a below average QB.

Facts seem to upset you. I’m not ruled by emotion because I’m not a little pussy like you. Just like we haven’t won the ship since 1980 — there’s no facts out there to suggest Mullen will ever win anything after accomplishing nothing in a decade as a head coach.

Don’t let your feelings get in the way of objectively viewing stuff. Just don’t be such a cuck, dude.

Perhaps mullen didn’t think trask was capable of beating us downfield and was afraid of a blowout 4th q like 2018, so he took what we were giving, which was underneath passes.

Position groups don't play against each other.

This is a point a lot of people forget. Just for fun....which position group do you think is stronger?

UGA Oline/UF DLine

UGA DLine/UF Oline

UGA QB/UF Secondary

UF QB/UGA Secondary

I think a lot of people are looking more about what Georgia lost and not nearly enough at what is coming back. The same could possibly be said about Florida.
I know Florida lost a lot of pass rush off their DLine and their best LB. Not sure about their secondary, but I think Wilson comes back and I was impressed with Trey Dean. I think Florida returns most if not all of their OLine.

It's an intriguing match up. It'll be an interesting game to see....if we get the chance.
