9-3 is absolutely good enough in year 2.

O was 11-12 his final two seasons, not 19-7.

And Mullen went 5-9 Since losing to Ed O in the Shoe game (so 2 of those 11 wins were against Mullen). Those 5 wins came against FAU, USF, Tennessee, Vandy, and Samford.

It's certainly better than 5-7

idk if anyone gets more out of bad QBs than Mullen.

Didn't do so with Emory Jones.

I'm not sure why they pulled the plug on Mullen so quick
He had bama on the ropes in sec title game and gave MSU a #1 ranking in Starkville

It was a terrible hire in the first place. Stricklin showed his incompetence with that one.

That didn't happen.

It was Samford, and they put up 52 points in the game a week before Mullen got fired.

If the 12 team playoff era had start in 2018 would Florida have still fired Mullen in 2021?

Would have been 3 straight playoff appearances to start his tenure.

If he lost momentum and unraveled like he did in 2021, possibly.

With expanded playoffs, making the playoffs isn't as much of a thing to hang your hat on anymore like it is in the 4 team playoffs. I think we'll see that in the next 5-7 years that just making the playoffs, and not winning in it, won't buy as much time as it does now.

Mullen checked out at State in 2014 after we failed to beat Bama but never got a job offer he wanted so he stuck it out. Then he had a good team again in 2017 and blew a 4th quarter lead against Bama and checked out again but this time got the Florida offer.

Then he once again checked out after coming up short to Alabama in the SECCG.

I really think not being able to beat Saban with his best teams hurt his ego where he just quit

And that was only because Stricklin whiffed on Chip Kelly and Scott Frost.

23 TD's total

19 TDS 13 INTS Passing

And 6 of those came against 4-7 fcs Samford.

Edit: 4 came against 2-10 Vandy

Over half his passing TDs came against two terrible teams, one of which he had to put up those stats (Samford) since they scored 52 points on Florida.

I’m glad LSU stayed away from Sunbelt Billy. He needs to go back to ULL. He was a coaching legend for the Cajuns. Billy can’t cut it in the SEC and it has shown.

So 9.5 - 3.5 is good enough? And only going to get worse with expansion. Like the earlier post said, LSU and UF are losing ground to Bama and Georgia every year. Now we have Texas and Oklahoma added to the mix. UF may be 6-6 for another decade. LSU 8-4 or 7-5 because they won't have the Gators to beat up on every year.

Idk why you gators are so bent on bringing down LSU to your level.

I get misery loves company, but don’t be ridiculous. LSU and UF are not on the same trajectory. To be frank, you haven’t even been in LSU’s universe for at least a decade.

If Arkansas can take road rash back then Florida can take the shark shack back.
