Penalty Statistics for SEC

In the SEC, over the last six years, Bama has finished the following with regard to SEC teams with the least penalties:

2007: 1st
2008: 1st
2009: 3rd
2010: 1st
2011: 1st
2012: 1st

(Stats via StatTiger on Scout.)

quote:

Note that none of Saban's LSU teams made the list, so it can't be a simple matter of great discipline under Nick Saban. Also note how many times Vanderbilt and Kentucky made the list with losing records. It's not uncommon for officials to take mercy on Vandy and UK during games they are out-manned, which means officials can clearly be biased, when calling games (The difference is no one complains when the losing teams are catching breaks, when it comes to penalties) . Alabama under Nick Saban is the only SEC champion or SEC Championship participant to make the top-25.

None of Saban's teams at LSU ever finished 1st (least penalties).

Nick Saban is obviously just GOOD right?

Bama, SEC Office, + Saban = fewest penalties, easier SEC schedules and many many other perks....

OMG GET THE SEC OFFICES OUT OF BIRMINGHAM!!! THEY CHEAT SO HARD FOR THE BAMMERS!!

Someone has to be the least penalized and someone has to be the best coached. I would think the best coached is usually the least penalized.

Saban = Best Coach

I liked this thread better when it was on the Tiger rant, I started it, and it went for like ten pages.

How about a list with same stats, but in Bowl games. Then we can see how the same teams shake out, with other conference officials calling the games.

With this type of coach, you'd think everyone else would be playing for 2nd in the SEC EVERY year....especially with being so well disciplined and all.

Not to mention, he only does this at Bama and not the other schools he coached at.

Amazing

yeah. Because it is less logical that the team who doesn't run their mouths or get pushy shovey (Alabama) doesn't get penalized while teams wrought with buffoonery (LSU, Georgia come to mind) do get penalized more. That would just make too much sense.
