Finebaum believes Texas A&M did not want to wait until the end of the season because they already had a “white whale lined up” in their sights and implied were in a rush because they didn’t want to lose him. Noted that any names ESPN leaks out regarding who they may have targeted are leaks from the agents of these coaches.

There is no “white whale” out there. Who would be on that list? This is going to be hilarious to what Aggy say they can get anyone they want. They’re going to have to take a chance with someone this go around. Their only call should be to Elko. Anyone else is a fantasy.

Why would Texas A&M not fire Fisher now since all will be on Texas A&M to get second, third or fourth choice when all is done if the AD waits at the end of the season to get it done.

Regardless of whether you like Finebaum or not, what he said makes a great deal of sense. Texas A&M rushed this now only because they already know the coach they want.
