Looks like qb development is becoming less and less important.

It's like battered women's syndrome for some of y'all.
Just because nothing has worked out for us, basically since Mallett came home, doesn't mean nothing ever will. You could be dead on with Franks being a repeat of Starkel, but you could just as easily be dead wrong.

Franks had a tough year at Florida as a redshirt freshman, and followed that up with a 10-3 year, with numbers very similar to Joe Burrow's first year at LSU, except with several more touchdowns, and only 1 more interception.

It's easy to see that Burrow was a generational type talent, so the chances that Franks will even approach what Burrow did this year are slim, and none. But if Franks can put together a season that is somewhere in between his 2018 Florida season, and Burrow's 2019 season at LSU, we will probably make a bowl game, and Pittman is SEC coach of the year.

1.I'm amazed that in the other 5 replies no one realized you were talking about the future.
2. The fact that you know we play Charleston Southern week 5 is an obssesion-confirming moment and yes even if you googled it just prior to posting, obsession has been confirmed.
3. Ole Miss has a better chance of winning the Natty than we do losing to Charlesron Southern. We're horrific, but it's just not possible for us to be that bad.
4. When has Franks ever had a discipline issue? I mean has he ever been in trouble with a coach at the college level?
5. Oh we coming for that arse, go frick yourself, &

Everyone's best film is against weak opponents.

He also beat a #5 LSU, and #7 Meatchicken in 2018. If you cut one of his legs off, he would still be the best quarterback on our roster.

So, he will be coached by Briles and will be a qb in Briles offense and he is going to suck?

Look at Briles past QB's #'s.

It would be pretty difficult for the Hogs to disappoint me at this point. I would think all Razorbacks would be hoping for the best, but do you, brother.

I don’t think there are any quarterbacks on our roster that we haven’t seen. Unless Franks has regressed drastically, there will not be much of a competition for the starting spot. Not really sure why you would think it a bad thing for KJ to get another year better before taking over.

Christ almighty you guys didn't watch anything from the guy.

Against LSU he went 12/27 for 161 yards an INT and a TD.

Against Michigan he went 13/23 for 173 yards.

The dude is bad. We won in spite of him, almost never because of him.

I’m not even gonna argue with you but even if that’s all true he’s still better than anything we’ve got. That’s why I’m happy

I mean you can't argue it.

His best games against quality opponents were those where he couldn't even throw for 200 yards.

He couldn't get 200 vs. LSU while playing at Home, Trask got 300+ while being the Away QB.

He might be the best you guys have, but I would severely temper my expectations because he's average at best.

I won't either, I just find it comical that you want to sell that he wasn't the best YOU had at the time as well. I guess y'all started him all those games for funsies, right?

I'll take average over than what we had. Starkel, hicks, jones, Lindsey or any other quarterback that came through the revolving door.

I mean Trask proved pretty quickly he was better than Franks. It happens.

In the end all that matters is Franks is an upgrade from any QB Arkansas had left on the roster losing a senior and having 2 QBs transfer out. His only real competition is basically a walk on senior and a rising sophomore who had deer in the headlights look about him in limited time this season.

Franks wont be anything special, time and time agian he's proven to be a mediocre at best QB. PFF never liked him and he didn't perform well in their metrics, he came out the gate this season against Miami and was absolutely pitiful.

Still then, Pittman simply went out and upgraded the roster though and that's what matters in the end.

The first game he started he broke Franks' record high at Florida.

He broke that record four more times in the season. Mullen picked the wrong guy -- but I think Mullen cares a lot more about leadership than he does pure talent.

Trask kind of has the personality of a yam, but people follow winners and Trask has proven he can be one.

But anyone who thinks Trask didn't blow Franks out of the water just isn't paying attention. (Not you, obviously, but theoretically.) Trask absolutely crushed Franks.
