Because too many people never developed object permanence, apparently

This is what makes no sense. If you are going to do this, why would you not test the players for all sort of other viruses and diseases before every game?
Because the coronavirus is easily spread.

Also not sure where or why he would have any authority in this situation.
He’s our country’s top infectious disease expert. This isn’t even his first time doing this. Just the first outbreak in his lifetime on this big a scale and this close to home.

Because the coronavirus is easily spread.
Also with measles and mumps now appearing on college campuses again, why are we not testing for that? Those are roughly 9 times more contagious than coronavirus

It has a significantly higher mortality rate than the flu.

They do when they're symptomatic. You don't have asymptomatic carriers with those diseases. Team doctors deal with that all of the time and make recommendations if a player needs to sit.

Unless something has changed, athletes are required to have up to date vaccinations. And when there is an outbreak in their dorm, they're monitored or quarantined (I believe Arkansas Football recently had to deal with this).
People crying over this crack me up. They're testing because it's a disease without a vaccine and without evidence-based, standardized treatment. We don't know much about it. That's why they're blanket testing. That's why it's different than the flu or mumps or measles.
Also, if it allows us to have sports in the fall why does it have to be all or nothing?

r0 of flu is 1.7
If we go back to packing stadiums for sporting events, that r0 would explode

You amazed about people being "wrong" while not understanding the significant statistical difference in R0 with a disease that has treatment/vaccines and one that does not is a good chuckle too, baw.

R0 of covid is estimated to be 2.3 without any measures taken
Our current measures have the r0 around 1-1.5 most places

around 50% of influenza infections are spread from asymptomatic carriers

Says the guy crying about sports being allowed to be played because they'll likely use preventative measures like testing.

Where do you get yours?
A quick Google search just showed only 1 and 3 flu carriers are asymptomatic. And there is next to no evidence that they are active in transmitting to others.
Science!

We performed a systematic review of published studies describing the relationship between viral shedding and disease transmission. Based on the available literature, we found that there is scant, if any, evidence that asymptomatic or presymptomatic individuals play an important role in influenza transmission.
