And he's held his position since Reagan was in office

He's not infallible but he knows more about infectious disease than this board will ever know combined, and we should probably at least listen to him with an open mind even if what he says is inconvenient

You realize that...there is no playoff to determine the "top infectious disease expert"

In terms of experience doing what he’s currently doing, I would think he’s at the top or very near the top.
I didn’t say he’s the top doctor or top vaccine researcher. In terms of his current role, you’d be hard pressed to find someone with a better resume.

I never said he shouldn't be listened to.(just inferred that other infectious experts disagree) .and i did say he was an expert but... is Sonny Perdue the top farmer because he is head of the dept of agriculture? Fauci is the head of a bureaucratic entity and has been for 36 years. I would bet he spent Dec in more budget meetings than research functions. When Drs ( like most people) dont know something they rarely err to the optimistic

Also, if it allows us to have sports in the fall why does it have to be all or nothing?

That would mean your problem is actually with President Trump, the person who actually holds executive power and could fire Fauci anytime he wanted instead of repeatedly putting him on TV and touting his expertise as something to be taken seriously.

If you think Trump has bungled the corona virus situation, it's ok to say so. You don't have to pretend to be mad at an advisor instead of the man in charge.

I don't have a problem with the guy. He's just not an authority on things other than disease.

Trump isn't an authority on this either. He doesn't get to say what happens and what doesn't.

It sucks that so many of you can't keep your politics out of the discussion. Even worse, you automatically assume anyone who doesn't share your opinion must be on the "other side" because of your own political motivations.

I don't get involved with politics.

There is no way to discuss this without bringing up Trump, but bringing up trump isnt "politics" as you keep crying.

What does Trump have to do with it?

All decisions are made by the state and local governments.

I don’t think he’s wrong but most young and healthy athletes will be asymptomatic carriers even if positive. The Utah Jazz was infected and none of them ever felt sick. Their bodies are in such good shape it is a non-factor for them. Hypothetically, let’s say one team has an outbreak and like 40 players and 15 starters test positive even though they have zero symptoms. Does that team forfeit? Do they play with their 3rd string and get beat 65-3 to a team they would normally beat? What if that’s the national championship game?

Domestic issues are almost always state and local government issues. And that is also the case here.

It wasn't Trump who shut down my local businesses, it wasn't Trump who opened them back up recently. None of that was Trump.

So why the hell do people keep bringing him up anytime someone doesn't go along with the "oh it's such a big major huge fricking deal" agenda?

This is a national issue in which the feds need to lead from the front with things like messaging, testing, financial assistance, and PPE procurement.

Bama would manipulate tests every week for their opponents. Just like players seem to get suspended right before they play Bama

Let me tell you after having gone through the test it sucks terribly. I wouldn’t line up for that every week.
